Clear handball for me.

The bit where he was megsed and used his trailing HAND to prevent the through ball. In the area.

Hitting the deck and handling the ball, are you actually excusing this?
He was falling backwards. The ball was behind him. He didn't have a clue where the ball was. His arm was going downwards to break his fall.

'Deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm,' It wasn't deliberate - the guy was falling backwards and put his arm out to help break his fall................1
'Touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger' There was no way his arm made his body unnaturally bigger..........2
1 his palm aint flat with the floor hes landing on. also, it was his Hand that made contact with the ball, not his arm. tsk tsk.
2 if he didn't make his body bigger, how did he impede the ball? set match!

A couple of questions someone else avoided earlier, did this incident penalize portugal? did it benefit uruguay?

Pleaee please please PLEASE Ghana put Uruguay out. Want to see that worm Suarez weeping again, like he did against Ceystal Palace

Unnaturally bigger.

I think you're wrong mate. In so much as the current rules suggest it's an accidental handball with his arm in a natural position and, as such, shouldn't be a penalty.

On one hand (as I stated in my previous post), I think it just feels right (morally) to give a penalty as, the contact impedes a clear goal scoring opportunity.

On the other hand, as I'm thinking more about it, there are always fortuitous moments in all sports which frustrate one side while benefitting the other.

Is a totally accidental handball from a natural situation any different to the ball hitting someone's leg without them knowing anything about it?

Sound, pens been given my way regardless, so I'm happy. Seems a lot of people have faith in the accident, I'm a little more cynical that an experienced pro knew he'd been nutmegged and sought to cheat. Glad you see it as a clear goal scoring chance, been glossed over that. I wonder what else falling over may excuse, two footer causing leg break so long as you end up sliding on your rear end? Then I read (elsewhere) that the pic/slide attesting the rule is actually out of date and has been removed? If that's the case I wonder who'll climb down.
Also amusing that var didn't make the call, with it under fire and rightly so, it was entirely on the ref in this case and there's still recrimination.

Are you serious with this reply?
1. Does someone ALWAYS put their hand flat as they head backwards towards the floor? How much physical contact sport have you played. I played football and rugby union for quite a number of years, and your 'flat hand' expostulation is total rubbish!
2. How does having his arm by his side make his body bigger in the split second of falling backwards? Seriously.

You are being totally silly now. No further point. I do wonder at your actual knowledge of football, physical grass sports, and your understanding of the basic rules of the game. For me, you fail on all three points...
