Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

They’ve been cooking the books and now they are getting done for it.

It’s now officially tainted everything Abu Dhabi FC has “won”.

Can see this ban getting reduced to one year, but a precedent has now been set.

Fabulous day for the integrity of the sport this.

Why is it good news? The established elite are under no challenge. FFP is a joke and certainly wasn’t brought in for clubs like City. Simply keeps everyone in their place. What difference does it make where the money comes from so long as it’s legit? Can see a proper legal challenge to this

Agree. FFP is one of the biggest misnomers ever created.

There is nothing fair about it. Why can man utd, rs etc spend 250m a year just because they have massive following and commensurate revenues due to success pre-FFP whilst a club with an owner wanting to build a challenge can only spend a fraction of that per year, say 80m, and therefore just get further and further behind on and off the pitch.

They say it is to safeguard clubs for the fans but that is rubbish. It is safeguarding the status quo for the established order.

I read on Twitter that HMRC are investigating them, diverting wages unaccounted for when they set up a vehicle in a tax haven in the carribean to keep player image rights off the books and keep their wages to turnover down.

Their turnover results for wages apparently show half the employees at the club, they created another company house for 400 employees to keep them off the turnover, i just cannot believe they have the 4th highest wages in the league.

Sure your saying the same thing about USM's nice little £30mill payment for first option on naming rights on a ground that hasnt even started to be built yet?

its a straightforward restraint of trade, business law should trump sports law just like it did with the Bosman ruling

It's there to protect clubs though isn't it. Any owner could come in spend fortunes then jump ship leaving the clubs saddled with unmanageable wages and debt.
The idea is a club should be self sustaining.
If Dubai walked away how long would city last?
