You do wonder if City wouldn't be better off keeping some of the academy players they flog so they wouldn't suffer from poor squad depth as they are now. To some extent you’re right, but they’re operating to keep within the boundaries of profit and sustainability so their model is to make big money on the youth players.

He’s in a great position, when they (wrongfully) get off he’ll get a massive extension and he’s lauded a hero.

If the impossible happens he’ll leave and ask for what he was owed from City as a signing bonus from one of the myriad clubs after him/take legal proceedings against City. All when every trophy he’s won there will have an asterisk next to it too.
