I thought it last year but siggurdson really is one of those players who on paper looks to be a top class playmaker but watching him it's hard to see what he brings to the team.

He is slow , not consistent enough, doesn't play the ball forward regularly enough, just generally slows the play down without really having an influence on it. He scores goals but how often are they? Chips in as he should do as a minimum in that position .

The fact that we signed him partly on his set pieces and digne has outshone him in that department this year is telling enough. Not to mention missed penalties.

It makes me wonder if we replaced him with a ball carrying am that the team may finally come to life a little bit more? But in typical everton fashion , just like Barkley we have no back up whatsoever in his role.

The problem isn't that he isn't a good player, he just isn't good enough and clearly is an anchor holding the team down at the wrong end of the pitch

For What it's worth...

10 goals and 4 assists this season. You'd be made up with that normally, right? But the fella is just a joke.

That's what a player in his position should be doing.

That's what is so frustrating about it. He can be a match winner and he does have flashes of class when he wants to but that's where it ends , flashes. I know the price tag shouldn't matter but he was signed to be the main man in the team to create and contribute and it does have a negative effect on others around him. It's boss when he turns a player and scores from 30 yard s but not when the entire attack doesn't move because he can't beat a man with the ball or find a killer pass in the games that matter.

That's my point that stats lie.

His record would show he's actually been brilliant, but he hasn't it's a myth. He's slow, he's off the pace, he goes missing consistently each game. I'd swap his goals for someone who actually wants the ball, actively wants to make things happen and can take a set piece. If he's a centre forward, i'm delighted with his return, but he isn't and for £45m... he should be doing more.

He should be better, but maybe he's ALWAYS been this way?

As it's been said a hundred times before.

The best he could get was Swansea, didn't make it at spurs and again best move he could get was us.

A midtable club who have done nothing to change that.

There is a reason why he never went anywhere else , too good for Swansea considering they went down without him but not good enough for the level we aimed to be at. The type of player that a few more years out of him would have made him very popular at Everton under Moyes especially but not when it's costing us a club record to get him here.
