Player Valuation: £15m
That's my point that stats lie.
His record would show he's actually been brilliant, but he hasn't it's a myth. He's slow, he's off the pace, he goes missing consistently each game. I'd swap his goals for someone who actually wants the ball, actively wants to make things happen and can take a set piece. If he's a centre forward, i'm delighted with his return, but he isn't and for £45m... he should be doing more.
He should be better, but maybe he's ALWAYS been this way?
What I’m about to say isn’t meant as a knock at our status as a club but quite simply if a player gets to the peak age of 27/28 and his big money move is to Everton.. then I’m afraid that player isn’t of the standard that we need to take us to a higher level. It’s why the new model and focus under Brands in regards to young, developing talent is so important. Players who will develop and improve hopefully in tandem with the clibnas a whole.
Not only is it more sustainable but it just makes more financial sense. Bolasie and Sigurdsson were big money buys with no room to really improve and no chance of any sell on value and now we’re lumbered with them. I know gylfi has done better than Bolasie, but they’re both indicators of what went totally wrong in regards to transfer strategy.
