His output is interesting i was looking at his goal numbers in 18/19, only Saha, Mane, Hazard as midfielders scored more then him, he was the highest scoring 10 he scored more then Son and Firmino and the same as Pogba, Lacazette and Jimenez in the PL.

Imagine asking any of those players to play at 6 like we ask Gylfi.

I think he’s the best defensive midfielder we got. He can play in that hole just in front of the back four. Good passing and reads the game well. Who plays with him is anyone’s guess but prefer neither of them mentioned above.

we would have lost 3-0 yesterday without him, this place has had an utter meltdown even though we came back to draw, imagine what it would have been like if he didn't play. I don't get our fans, we must be the only ones who make excuses and get annoyed about when a player contributes. He gets 2 goals and an assist whereas the rest of the squad bar dcl contributed nothing, yet everyone's like "doesn't count, he only scored a pen, did nothing for the rest of the game".

I'm quite happy if a player does nothing all game and still gets 2 goals and an assist for us, i'm more annoyed by the 13 or 14 others who contributed nothing.

At least he had those strikes, we played about 22 players, what did the other 20 do? Weird the way our fans think of things, we've got our scapegoats and they'll never be able to do anything to change people's perception.

Problem is we need to play him in pre season in the hope he might attract a buyer. I unfortunately suspect we are saddled with him and he can't play any position in 4-4-2. He is a number 10 in a formation that suits that position but other than that he is just a man missing.

I think this is just good man management by Ancelotti, build up his confidence, get some good performances out of him and hopefully get him sold. The worst thing we could do in preseason is bang him in the reserves, not play him, becuase then his value plummets and we are much more likely for him to be here till his contract runs out.

Don’t mention the glaring obvious elephant in the room, the avoidance around this is quite fascinating, people have convinced themselves his position has always been a central midfielder.

Danny summed up it yesterday, he can score two goals and assist and will still get vitriol in here. Never seen anything like it from a minority of our fans. Season before he was the top scoring 10 in the league.
