Can moan and blame playing deeper all he wants doesn't mean he isn't an utter crab who won't show any responsibility in a game of football. Hides from the ball, doesn't tackle, passes backwards and safe constantly, points more than Phil Neville. Nothing but an utter coward

Ancelotti has him trying to orchestrate from there. Ancelotti reckons he has a footballing brain, marked him out for management - It's obvious he's been deployed much deeper, this isn't anything new - both him an Ancelotti have said it last season and anyone with any football brain can see it.

It's not his position, he can't tackle and you put a centre midfielder in an Everton side that's struggling who can't tackle and he's going to take a hiding. It's not why we paid the fee we did for him - but he's the best centre midfielder we have at the club and he's trying to do a job. Fans fume about him and you say "who else" and you're met with silence.

There's a reason why we'll bring in Allan etc.

Gomes apart (debateable this season) he is the best current (fit) CM we have and that is the issue, we have to play a player who can't tackle, press the ball and shirks responsibility in a deeper role because none of the other useless gets are better. Doesn't mean he's a good fit for the position just means we are a mess who need new CMs so we don't have to endure it anymore. If he didn't go hiding and mark himself out of games then I'd be more inclined to give him a break but the gutlessness of the man is a lot to try and put up with.

Pulling up that absolute loon Ricky Ryder as a source to back up any argument isn't wise.

Especially with whoppers like this...

"He is by far the Premier League's most creative player, and if he received more passes he would flush the competition. The statistics prove it."

Ha and i thought i was guilty of being a fan boy. lol

To be fair we are fickle bunch and how varient a consensus can change.

I genuinely think I can forgive a player for not being good enough, that's just the nature of the beast, but one thing that's non negotiable is going out on the pitch with heart, pride and a willingness to work. These thing he doesn't do,and it's amplified when you're captain.

Brace yourself for distance covered stats, as if jogging around in the centre circle following an opposition midfielder around so you don’t receive a pass somehow equates to working hard.

Indeed . Deep playmakers also want the ball . The best of those type of players want the ball to start attacks or at least progress up the field . They don't want the ball to bypass them . They certainly don't keep pointing to other less open passes just so they don't have to take responsibility .
If he didn't move from his spot but pinged the ball about creating chances at least he would have some use .
But a playmaker not wanting the ball while praying the game passes him by makes him utterly useless .
If it's a crisis of confidence then I hope he gets some , soon . If it's because he can't be arsed or motivate himself then he should leave and make a fortune in China or the MLS .
It's a shame as the previous season he showed us what he was capable of .

He played a role on Saturday that I imagine, in theory, Gomes is going to play.

The plan I think will be to have Allan-Gomes-Doucoure as a three. That can be switched up as a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Sigurdsson interchangeable depending on the game.

Sigurdsson's going nowhere unless a bizarre offer comes in. Big wages, he's 31 in 2 weeks. Ancelotti likes him for his ability on the ball and probably because he does have those moments of producing something from nothing, not that he did it much last year.

Maybe £10/15m (in terms of what's left on his deal?)

We'd need a buyer. And Carlo likes him.

Who says Carlo likes him?
Any decent manager will encourage his players & be positive.

Can’t see Sigurdsson being any more than a bench warmer this year. £100k a week or whatever he’s on is burning money for a player with nothing to offer.

But ultimately I don't think Carlo sees him as a player with nothing to offer, that's my point.

Not saying he wouldn't be sold if an offer came in, but it's likely he'd also have to be willing to take a massive wage cut.

Honestly can't see him going anywhere.
