The problem he had playing in a new position under Carlo was adapting to a role that is the most un English in its style of play and was never going to put him in a good light in the eyes of the supporters, that being an attacking midfielder that sits in front of the back four.
A regista as it's known in Italy, think Pirlo under Ancelotti. He's not a defensive midfielder, his job is not to put a tackle in and so because we are not used to that role we say he's lazy. What he does need is two combative mids in front of him to do that job and if they're aren't there then he's exposed and it'll look as bad as it did last season.
If Carlo persists with that idea, wether it's Gylfi or Gomes doing the biz, let's have some faith and give it time, it could turn into something beautiful.
