Player Valuation: £5m
This thread is nothing but spam, I'm actually one of the few people giving insight on the player & his abilities.
People whine & moan about Gylfi but go silent when I post these stats or show these clips.
If Gylfi is as bad as you people claim he is in open play, how on earth do those clips exist? How on earth are his open play stats so high?
Borderline obsession? You do realize you people live & breathe Everton right? You do realize you dedicate your entire lives towards a football club, right? That's obsession.
I 'follow' Sigurdsson in the same sense that I 'follow' a UFC fighter, Formula 1 driver or any other player in any given sport.
Am I obsessed with Michael van Gerwen for watching him play darts? Or having watched Phil Taylor? No.
The same applies to Sigurdsson. He's a world class player, and I enjoy watching sport at the highest caliber.
Neither of my bans were truly banworthy, especially not when you consider what the other users get away with.
Most both footed Playmaker on the planet. Have you really ever seen a Playmaker shoot, cross or pass on both feet like him? No. You haven't.
He shoots like Hagi on both feet, crosses like Beckham on both feet, takes set pieces like him, and passes on both feet like a slow Laudrup/Zidane.
Those are all players that I truly admire, and Gylfi consistently does things that none of them could do.
There is nothing 'random' about him. He's a world class player.
Here's 'bang average Sigurdsson' compared to Coutinho
Look at how bad he is, outperforming £150 million Coutinho in every PL season.
Everybody harps on about Coutinho's 7 goals & 6 assists in 14 matches this season..
Take a look at what Gylfi did at 22 years old in 2012.
7 goals & 5 assists in 18 matches. At 22 years old.
Yes, Coutinho had 1 more assist in 4 fewer matches, but 1 goal & 3 of his assists were scored in 1 match against Brighton.
Removing that brings his total down to 6 goals & 3 assists in 13 matches. Hardly better than Gylfi who was 3 years younger.
The narrative that suggests Davies should be apart of our strongest XI is also the same narrative that suggests Kenny, DCL & Martina are ''good enough'' for our starting XI.
All of those players have their moments, but rarely do they produce consistently.
Davies's through balls might be better than Rooney's or Gueye's, and he's a very good dribbler that pressures his opponents well.. But he's by no means good enough to start.
Rooney & Gueye are better passers, irregardless of Davies's extremely inconsistent through balls.
Gylfi of course is the best passer in our team, and should be playing Davies's role. Which he does for Iceland, and used to for Swansea.
Whenever I watch us play I'm always seeing Davies getting the ball in positions where Gylfi should be. He is more than capable of being there & doing so, but he's usually stuck on the left. The few moments he is in the middle he always has to worry about drifting back to the left if there's a counter attack.
Why loan out Lookman when he would've been perfect to pair up with Walcott? Why is Bolasie or Vlasic not starting? Why is Tosun not playing on the wing or upfront?
There simply isn't room for Davies in the XI. But if I were to replace him with anyone it would be Rooney, not for a winger. But how well are we going to defend with two lightweights in Gueye & Davies in midfield?
Mate. You haven’t tried to contact him directly?!
