I was merely celebrating the fact that Siggy ran round more than anyone else playing for Iceland.
Cos when I've seen him play for us, you know, the team who pays his wages.. He's ok.. only ok.. not great.

I have a crazy notion here, hear me out.

Maybe, just maybe the atmosphere and spirit he walked into at Everton wasn’t the best and he hasn’t been as good as he could have been. Despite that and also the facts that he had zero pre season due to the protracted and drawn out transfer, also him missing the run in too, his return in goals from midfield was still as good as anything we got from any midfielder the previous season when everybody was in high spirits and we finished in a European spot.

So perhaps in an Everton side with a bit of togetherness and spirit we will see a lot better from him next season.

Either that or just write him off as crap in typical well thought out GOT poster fashion, it’s your choice I suppose.

Humour aside, the stats back up the fact that he played very well and overall his stats for the season prove he's a good player

Heck, look at this...

And I'm pretty sure he still finished the season as our most creative player.

I'd love to look at those mate, but my phone won't show twitter links when I'm at work for some reason.

Hard facts. You can't beat 'em.

If you read a few posts back, I've said I think he's alright mate. Just saying like.

He wasn't writing him off though. He was just saying that as an Everton player he has been merely OK so far. And he is spot on in that assessment.

Anyone can see the bloke has got talent. The rest are just (reasonable enough) excuses.

Hopefully he will show his true worth starting this coming season, I think he will personally, but he HAS been pretty underwhelming so far for us.

38 - Gylfi Sigurdsson has created 38 goalscoring chances in the Premier League for Everton this season, 13 more than any other player for the club. (as of March, when he got injured).

21 - Most Premier League goals vs 'Big Six' Opposition since August 2014:
Jamie Vardy (21 in 40 apps)
Sergio Aguero (21 in 30 apps)
Harry Kane (16 in 30 apps)
Sadio Mané (14 in 35 apps)
Gylfi Sigurdsson (12 in 42 apps)

5 - Gylfi Sigurdsson has been directly involved in five goals in his last seven Premier League games (3 goals, 2 assists), after failing to score or provide an assist in his first 10 this season.

He won the running.

He set up the goal.

He generally stopped Argentina's midfield playing at all until Banega came on and pushed them up the pitch.

He created some really good chances. He had four shots - Icealnd's highest total. He had the most touches and won the most 'duels' (20). He made the highest number of successful tackles (5).
Good summary mate. Clear @Toast didn't watch the game, and doesn't watch much of Sigurdsson in general.
