I can also count goals and assists. I'm not sure what else to tell you. You say he doesn't even do that, yet he does it better than almost every other midfielder in the entire PL. Apparently that counts for nothing.

It doesn't really. Not in the grand scheme of things.

of course we wanted him to score it but, typically, he'll now bring that nagging doubt that they could have got something from the game back with him to our next season. So, yeah, the old Everton curse.

Again, if that's what you think then you don't understand football. Sorry, but you don't. You used the example of Brazil playing one touch football, so by your logic no Brazil player can ever be said to run a game because they don't 'possess the ball' whatever that means. That's not the case though, they absolutely can. The point is simply that Sigurdsson doesn't fall into that category.
I am well aware, but that's what people are saying. That's EXACTLY what they are saying. And I agree with you, their logic is insane and they don't know football or understand it.

But if you find it OKAY that he doesn't hold the ball, his production per touch is insane in terms of goals, assists, key passes, whatever stupid metric you want to use. I'm not sure what there is to argue.

The other issue is that many here don't watch matches of other teams and never saw him play before he came to Everton. Last year was his least productive year, but there were pretty obvious reasons for that. It was a bad year for lots of Everton players.

Because he's been special everywhere else he's been.

It's a stylistic issue and frankly, a bit of a issue with understanding the game and the different ways it can be played successfully.

I don’t doubt that he’s a good player. But special? Pure hyperbole.

Roberto baggio was a special player. Andres Iniesta is a special player. Ronaldo both Brazilian and Portuguese are special players. If Gylfi is special what adjectives describe those players?

Gylfi is a good premier league footballer. That’s all.

Because he was bog average.

He may be great for us next year, let's hope he is. But so far he has been a very run of the mill Everton player excuses or not.

That's pretty subjective, though. Certainly he was special for Swans and Iceland.

He is indeed a very good PL player. That's all.
