There’s a player in there alright with Gylfi. I don’t doubt that - others do - you can’t deny his influence on a poor Swansea side. Kept them up with goals, assists and km run etc.
But has failed to deliver to same consistent standards here or at Spurs. Reasons why and they are probably fair in terms of protracted transfer no pre season here - but upheaval at Spurs when first arrived.
So, massive year for him. No doubt we overpaid last summer, resale value is now only reducing - so either we play him in his preferred central position and play off him or seek offers - which will be a huge hit on the balance sheet if he don’t fit what Brands/Silva want as their creative option.
Ben stop/start for him in his Everton career to date, but gets a shirt for me away at Wolves based on what we have available currently.

Unfortunately he`ll be here next season, as we`re not in a position to take a hit, on the 20 mil plus that his value has probably dropped by.

well I don't think that's a totally valid reason like it was in the first bit of last season
he's got the minutes over his legs over the season and the sharpness is there
think it was more a case of having to do a lot of running in that first half in that deeper role. Iceland had none of the ball but as opposed to the compact 4-4-1-1 they played in v Argentina, with Gylfi in the hole, they played a 4-4-2 which meant all of the players were a bit more stretched.
He had a poor game. Created some good chances but overall didn't do enough.

Hit and hope. He pretty much admitted it post match.
Don't take the above as me hating him, I think he's alright. The fee debate has been done to death, but he's a player I think we'd be pleased to have if we'd paid sub 15 million for. Bit like Arteta - absolute steal at 2.5million, but probably less great business at 25 million in 2004...

The hit and hope bit....thats him playing it down imo watch it in real time and its bloody ridiculous that he attempts it but for whatever millisecond a top player thinks, its a great idea, he processes that thought and executes it perfectly.
