Part of the problem with football is the unconscious bias from pundits and commentators

When a big team get a decision they are so quick to justify it because they are used to these teams getting all the decisions. If that decision wasn't given for us they would be straight away defending the decision and saying he was too close to the shot and had no reaction time.

Fans of the big teams dominate the media as well and they have totally different opinions of what is a foul or what is a penalty. They are used to all the soft decisions going their way and see the game completely different than we do.

If that is a penalty yesterday then we just need to call it a handball any time it touches a hand or arm.

Except that's not at all how it is officiated. We've not had a penalty all year and we don't get those decisions. We don't get 50 50 calls and we absolutely don't get decisions against big teams.

This league is no longer a credible competition with its favouritism towards the top teams and the woeful standard of officiating. If I didn't love Everton I would switch off because the game has been ruined by VAR, big team bias, and inconsistent interpretation of the rules.

Liverpool did not get their penalty for that hand ball in their game.
And it was a joke decision

Big team v big team these things happen. They get that 100% against a team like us

It's absolutely ludicrous wrong get penalised for handball yesterday and that wasn't deemed handball. There's no excuse in the era of TV replays, for such dire officiating

As Evertonians we don't like to say it, but the team who benefit most from decisions is not the reds. Its city without a doubt.

That was daft, he was offside just put you flag up
I didnt think it was that clear in real time to being offside. So then if we look at it the other way and say it was just onside and he had flagged immediately and we had a goal scoring opportunity taken away from us what would we be saying? Yes, of courss we would rightly be going nuts! I think it was right to play to the end before flagging. The injury was unfortunate, its a footballing injury and could have happened at any time. The collision looks inoculous to me and im still not sure what happened. More likely too much football in a short period of time and he would have picked up someting at some point irrespective, it was just his time....

100% and that’s why it needs to be clear cut. You’ll see it in another game and the commentary team and ex refs will start wheeling out “he was only a yard away” “arms are in a natural position” “nothing he can do”

It’s murky.

As I say I’d want it if it was down the other end but you know we will see scenarios this season where that won’t be given and dependent on the team it’ll be justified as you say.

i think because it hit his arm / hand is the main reason.
That didnt always mean a handball with the older rules. There had to be intent or movement of the arm/hand towards the ball. I think it left too much controversy so they tried to make it easier by saying this crap about unnatural position of the arm. Basically if your arm is away from the body and the ball hit bit then handball - intent or not. BUT in my view Onanas arm is in a pretty natural position considering he was going over. In any case per the current rules it was a handball. The rules need reviewing as noone can surely think that SHOULD have been a handball and penalty. Joke.

He was offside but only by about a foot

They shouldn't flag early when it's that tight
100%, but of course when Pep and his pre Madonnas have a moan they will probably change the directive to suit whatever Man Citys latest agenda is. Until City get a goal thats flagged offside when it was just onside. That would make me laugh hard!!

Why were City players allowed to surround the ref screaming at him to give the pen? I couldn’t tell on the tv coverage who he looked at before giving it?

If it were the other way around, there’d have been cards galore.
Because they are a big successful team with a top manager. Referees don't give too many decisions against Guardiola because they would get a lot of criticism

No manager has got more favourable decisions on a consistent basis since SAF
