Has Moyes got His favorite Players

If certain players dont let him down and perform how he wants, why shouldnt he pick them?

Joke of a thread to be honest, everybody has favourites, its human nature.

I don't think that's really the issue. The issue is that he picks players who consistently don't perform i.e Anichebe, over giving others a chance.

I cant defend his selection of Anichebe, its mind blowing, maybe he performs in training? Im not sure.

But other people in this thread mentioned Hibbert and Osman and whilst they are clearly not our best players and ive never been their biggest fans, they never let us down, I mean yeah Hibbert got destroyed by Chelsea in the Cup Final, but thats the 1 time I recall him getting skinned, Osman was at times last Season our brightest player and as for who ever said Cahill and Jagielka, they need to seek help.

Not exactly relevant but as has been said all managers have their favourites and pick the ones that wont let them down. It always amuses me to think of joe royle being interviewed and saying he thought that limpar had as much ability as michel platini before promptly dropping him.

Moyes has his top favourites, in Neville, Hibbert and Osman

Then they are followed by Cahill and Jagielka

Osman is evidently not one of his top favourites as he plays him out of position 99% of the time.

Cahill and Neville are the two main favourites, I think, as he'll play them regardless. Sometimes to the detriment of the team as a whole.

People need to stop picking on Cahill, its seriously winding me up.

I'm not picking on Timmy. It's a dig at Moyes, if anything, for playing him in a 4-5-1 whenever he possibly can.

Cahill plays where he's told and gives it his all. I can't fault him and I don't have a bad word to say about him.

I have to admit i never was a big fan of osman i always thought he was very slow and he lacked a real cutting edge ,but did he prove me wrong last season ,
i also like hibbert but can never forget that horrible 45 minutes in the cup final vs chelsea ,
i think he looks at neville and sees a sort of player coach on the field ,i honestly belive artea didnt justify hes game time last season .
as for big vic iam still amazed he is at everton .

Pretty much summed up my feelings on the squad in that post.

I doubt I'll ever give Osman as much stick as I used to give him towards the end of the season he was by far and away our best player if he played all season in a similar vein he would've been in for player of the season contender without a doubt.

As for Anichebe I believe he's quite useful on the right wing but when played up top he's horrendous really Moyes should concentrate on trying to convert him into a out and out wide midfielder.

Thats because Moyes generally plays Osman out on the right, where he is bloody useless. He has no pace so he tries that ****ty shimmy thing that invariably leads to the opposition defender running up the wing with the ball laughing.

When Osman plays more central and is able to use his little one-touch flicks and through balls he is 10 times the player.

And it's NOT picking on Cahill saying at times we would be better suited without him. As has already been said, he is Mr. 100% and wont ever let us down with effort. I just wish that sometimes he wasn't the first name on the teamsheet. We will never evolve as a team whilst he plays as '2nd striker.'

Easy to forget that Lescott was poor at Centre Half when he first arrived - Baines also took a while to settle in. So Stubbs-Lescott (at left back) was probably a better option than Lescott/Stubbs-Baines - Rose tinted spectacles in assuming Stubbs (then) was a far worse pick - easy to remember Lescott and Baines' better days when you question that particular team selection. Also Yobo was a good player back then.

Maybe he would, but he doesnt. Moyes constantly playing him wide (Unless forced to play him central due to his darling Cahill being injured) makes him look average.

Oh definitely. But its too his credit the lad will give everything and never complain no matter what job he is asked to do.
