I have just had a look on Transfermarkt for his international appearances
Since 1st July 2017, which would be two years from our next attempt to get him a permit
There have been 21 games in that time
In the squad for 10
Not in squad for 9 ( six of these were world cup warm-up and then world cup )
Injured for 2

This doesn't include any Afcon appearances in the next couple of weeks

Don't think he will have any trouble getting 60%
Needs more than 60%

Possibly, If Nigeria win AFCON their World ranking might go up enough to put them in the next bracket requiring a lower percentage?

Possibly why the quotes say we're waiting till after AFCON to try get a work permit. Even if they don't win friendly wins & any tournament match wins should bump them up and make it easier for him to get one.

Had a look to see if I could work it out, Nigeria are currently 43 rd in the FIFA rankings 20 points behind Bosnia who are joint 39th, all of the teams in between them are European so shouldn’t move in the rankings now. I think I read on here that the required games % drops to 50 % if they are top 40.
So can they get 20 points? That’s the complicated bit, the points awarded for wins or draws varies depending on the ranking of the opposition, there’s a formula to calculate it, which is well beyond me, link below if any maths genius fancies the challenge, prob not coz well, zzz

Its even simpler, all Nigeria needs to do is make the semi-finals of AFCON, and he gets his last point needed.

Frankly, the only way I can see him not getting it is if Nigeria suddenly benches him, then they fail to make semi-finals. Or the FA despite him meeting the 5 points criteria just decide to reject him anyway for some bizarre reason.

Will Brexit improve the chances or make things worse, does anyone know?
Nobody really knows what the rules will be once Brexit happens for sure. But the work permit process will definitely change. It really opens it up for the FA to make the rules whatever they like.

Oh we all know what that bizarre reason would be: we’re Everton.

Surely the concern is that if he is t qualifying for a work permit he is likely to nowhere near good enough to be a premier league starter.

No mate.

We could be after the world's best footballer but if he plays in some obscure ranked 190th on the world country we would struggle to get a work permit
