If he didn't get it this summer I don't see next summer changing. Don't know if Monaco was a loan, whether his status would grow playing in one of the top 5 leagues. Also maybe Nigeria will look to the future now and start playing him more now after the afcon. He'd have only started here as rotation though.

Permits are based on the last 2 years of international football. Considering he only played around 1 game in 7 during their recent tournament I can’t see him reaching the criteria any time soon.

Shame would have liked to have seen him play for us but at the end of the day the permit just isn’t happening. Cash in now, money towards actual first team players and gives Onyekuru more certainty over his future.
