I’d love to have seen him play for us, but turning £7m into about £15m without the lad even kicking a ball for us is free money.

To be fair they were all brought in for relatively low fees in todays market and sold at a profit, which is what the Chelsea's, City's etc do. Actually good business even though we would all like to see them play for us.
Actually has been a good signing.
A loan fee while out on loan and it appears we are making a nice profit without him ever kicking a ball for us.

Good. Too bad he couldn't get a work permit - he could have been a good 4th winger. But since we can't use him, get the money and move on while there's still time in the window to spend it. Solid business.
