HGV Lorry Drivers v England

They can win the World Cup with this exact lineup. And they could also go out in the groups or lose to someone like Algeria if the chances don't go in because they don't create that many.

It's a tough one because again they could win a trophy doing this but it might be possible to increase the odds playing a tad more loose and trying to score some goals.
I don’t think we have a midfield that can outplay teams at the moment

There's a way that you can incorporate Bellingham, Mount and yes even Jordan Henderson that will be a better attacking side than Rice and Phillips without being wide open. No it probably can't stand up to Italy or Spain in the middle but the rest it'll be fine.

England are not very good lads I’m afraid.
They are a decent side. Just not at the level required to win anything unfortunately. I don't see the teams above them dropping off soon, so England will have to improve which could happen but I'm not sure that will though.

This generation will need a lot of luck and things going their way. I think that they missed their chance in the Euros just gone with home games and a highly partisan crowd due to covid constraints.

Hard to see past France as the next dominant team if they play to their potential.

Only watched the 2nd half.

Played it around really nice and some lovely interplay out wide between Sterling, Grealish, Mount, Walker & Shaw but why on earth did the crosses not come in. So many times players were in a position to fizz one across the 6 yard box and decided to take an extra touch, play it back further out wide or just wait to get tackled.

All in all though, we will qualify easily, regardless of the result last night, what the draw does do is just cement it that little bit more early doors. Would have been nice to win and for Pickford to get another clean sheet but fair play, they came at us in the last 5 minutes and there was some class play before the goal.

TBF Poland defended very well. They always had lots of men in their own box when we attacked so very difficult to get through that.

My own view is that the England team is nowhere near as good as it potentially could be in 5 years' time. I agree this current group might not be good enough to win anything but that could change when you see what's coming through. I think France, England, Spain, could well be up there with Europe's best teams over the next 5 years. But there's also Portugal and the Netherlands who are producing lots of good players.

Let's also remember that this Poland team held Spain at the Euros who were one of the tournament's best teams. So England's 1-1 was a decent result. It was the same old failing of retreating too much under pressure for England. But there is not too much wrong with thsi team at the moment.

I hope that potential comes to fruition. Again currently a decent team just under the very top tier of international sides. As you suggest though, who knows what the next few years could bring - even a single international trophy would be a big event.

Agreed!

But it countries that focus on the team style not the individuals that tend to win things e.g. Germany so its not always the team that has the best players etc.

England have a great crop of talent but we need a manager who can develop them and the team to play as a tournament winning team too.

Example: There was plenty of talent in the England teams from 1998 to 2006 but we didn't really come close to winning anything.
