Sounds decent . Is it your first valve kit? What do you think?
No, it's my second valve amp. I had a Mastersound 300B for a few years, the OTO uses EL84s it's more "punchy", I'm very pleased and it's got more to come when it's run in. The cd player uses EC88s and it is very good.

I've been collecting vinyl for about 2 years now and it's a cracking hobby and is really rather addictive.

I have strict rules on which ones I collect, but I couldn't describe what it is to anyone. Just the ones that feel right. Soundtracks are key. Got quite a few first press versions of some 80's movies which i'm very proud of.

Totally agree wth @chrismpw - in a new gaff first thing is to set up the music. Makes everything else easier from then on.
Do you also have a seven leaf clover?

I've got a Pro-Ject record player, Cambridge amp. Don't use it that often. Despite records becoming much more popular, the cost of a record is much more in shops and Discogs - Don't really get it. Moving into a house soon, may get back into it.

Enjoy my Sonos speakers and Spotify just as much tbh

Used to have a Thorens belt drive deck with a Trio valve amp, using various makes of speakers. Loved the amp and was gutted when it expired. Ditto the deck. Since then I have tried many combinations of separates (as they used to be called) depending on my ability to afford the items. Now have a Pioneer amp with 2 mission speakers which are connected to my Mac PC. Only have a USB deck at present as I had intended to convert my vinyl to digital but ended up just keeping my old LPs and in the past 3 years buying new albums to replace the old ones. I do like playlists and have Spotify etc but can still listen to a lot of my vinyl stuff all the way through..currently looking for a decent deck in the £200 - £500 range to replace my USB one - any advice ?

That's fine if you don't want to hear all of what the artist put down on their tracks.

Always hear 'audiophiles' going on about how much better the sound is with a proper hi fi/record player set up. Would like to actually hear a demonstration of the difference sometime.

I thought 300B were the 'holy grail' (especially in single ended mode) - but I suppose it depends on what you want from your musical style. Mine uses 5881s - not top range, but better than any transistor I've ever had.

Pal of mine is a real bottle head. He designed and built his entire system out of valves - even the power regulators - the works - not a transistor in sight. His stack looks like the Manhattan skyline at night when he switches on. I keep challenging him to make a valve DAC to go with it, but he's having none of it!
