Mods. Any chance we can now lock this thread. All points have been made and now it is just a barrel for shooting fish.

Nothing more constructive can come from it, and it will end up being a point of unrest between us all.

Those that will support will support, those that do not agree will silently disagree. Each to their own.

But no one in here will disrespect. that has been established.

Each and every one of us has shown we are honourable.

Well said mate. :lock:

Nope, I meant Steevie mate, sorry

ah right. no worries mate.

Not to speak for steevie , but he has effectively retracted his earlier comments. Which to be honest I commend.

It takes a man to accept his ways/thinking may have been changed by respectable talking. Which I applaud this site for allowing us to do. this whole thread is an attestation to that.

Thanks mate. I have'nt exactly retracted my feelings, more to admit i was wrong by claiming Bourne Evertonian may be a Liverpool fan. Other than that, i still wont be supporting this Hillsborough banner if it happens but i am not against anyone who wishes to do so.

Let's just leave it at that, we're going over old ground & all I keep doing is explaining my reply to a comment which has, as mentioned, effectively been retracted anyway

See, now your contradicting everything that has been said in this thread of somethings being more important than football. How on earth it would come across as "getting one over them" is beyond me.

To call the poster bitter is pathetic. Maybe say it would be unwise given how some could interpret it but at the end of the day, if people choose to interpret an underlying message to remembering the dead then thats their issue, their problem. You could argue people would say the same with Hillsborough? - The lad genuinely could think it would be an idea. You know, forgetting football for a moment to remember football fans who died for attending a football match.

Hang on I'm not having this. Why else would someone specifically mention the Heysel disaster in a thread about a Hillsbrough flag on the 20th anniversairy of Hillsbrough? If he wasn't doing it to try and be sarcastic and bitter, he'd have said 'and bring a flag for those who died at Ibrox aswell', or other innocent fans that've been killed at a football match.

It's not just about 'remembering innocent people who've lost their lives', as we can do that any time, the Hillsbrough flag is for the 20th anniversairy.

Do we have to spell this out 100 times for you to see why it just lacks all class to bring Heysel up at the same time?

It doesn't matter what the living have said or done. 96 lost souls (all of them our kin, if we're honest) should be honoured and remembered.

If it helps to heal some of the poison that seems to exist now between the two sets of fans - all the better.

I well remember walking from Villa Park that day back to my car. The euphoria of winning was uppermost as I left the stadium. With each policeman that I passed, I was given an update on the death toll. By the time I got to the car, I was numb. And very worried about relatives that I knew were at Hillsborough that day. (Somehow, the Birmingham bobbies seemed to know what it would mean to Evertonians that so many scousers had perished. Each one gave us the latest news as we passed. Well done, West Midlands constabulary...)

These boys, girls, men and women were going to a match just like we were. That's what I mean by calling them our brothers and sisters. It should have been an enjoyable occasion.

This isn't a topic that has anything to do with football rivalry - it's about more important stuff. Ask Timmy Cahill...he knows.
I'm pretty similar to you..i was a villa park that sunny satuday and coming back in the car with my mates dad on his huge mobile phone trying to find out about his brother was something i'll remember for the rest of my life, though that being said the worst had yet to come as i was working that night so they dropped me off at work only to find my workmates waiting for her husband to be taken up to shefield to identify her dead son..

Yeahs this is something we should support and not be so frigging petty..theres enough poison about the two teams now,if this anniversary cant us bring a little closer then nothing will.

I dont think we need a banner,

A mins silence before our game will be a good show of respect, but do remember the lad who was shot in Liverpool was a Everton fan but his parents were welcomed at Anfield too ..............
