The Model for the Statue of Liberty.
Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi's model for the Statue of Liberty was the beautiful Frenchwoman Isabelle Boyer, who was first married to the American industrialist Isaac Merrit Singer-of sewing machine fame- and later to the Duke of Campo Selice of Luxembourg.
In 1878, the 36-year-old Duchess de Campo Selice attracted the attention of the sculptor who forever immortalized her features in the face of Lady Liberty.

...Everton were a founder member of the Football League. I always think those clubs should be more recognised, perhaps they should always be allowed to wear their home kits or have a unique insignia on their shirt.
they wouldve but none of the Sly 6 are founders! i always thought if another team but Everton were at the top of the all time league when it went from 2pts a win to 3pts they wouldve been presented with the original trophy as all time keepers and a big thing made about it, especially if it was our neighbours.

this page makes you realise just how good they were. ?

I would treat that page with a certain amount of caution. It has Franz von Werra with 21 victories (he was a serial overclaimer); Franz Stigler with 26 (hilarious! - he was part of the disgraced 'Experten Swchwarm' of 4./JG 27 in the Med Theatre, who discharged their guns into the sand of the desert and returned to base with false claims); Helmut Wick of JG 2 was another serial overclaimer. Adolf Galland and Werner Mölders were very accurate claimers. The table shows Hartmann as top scorer - Hartman was another serial overclaimer - modern research points to Otto Kittel as being the most accurate claimer of verified victories.

It is not confined solely to the Luftwaffe, however. On the RAF side in the Battle of Britain, 303 Squadron have been trumpeted as the top scorers of the Battle - they overclaimed heavily, as did 74 Squadron. Modern research points to 605 Squadron as being the accurate top scoring squadron in the Battle.
The worst example of overclaiming on the RAF side occurred on 29th May 1940 when the Defiants of 264 Squadron claimed a total of 39 victories in two actions. Total Luftwaffe losses for the day amounted to nowhere near 39. For 264, the actual total was between 3-5.

Even 3 or 5 is good for Defiants, total dog of a plane.
Morris Marina or Maxi to the Rolls Royce of even a Hurricane
