It shouldn't even be up for discussion. He was expecting it I'm sure.
His reaction to 'something' wasn't a deflection to avoid a booking but genuine anger and offence.
That is what should be considered.
The reaction from them has a precedent, it is unsurprising, I wouldn't expect anything else, at all.

I have said he was lucky not to be sent off for 2 yellows, one for the push on the racist and the other for manhandling the ref. The fact nothing was done speaks volumes.
 
Holgate pushed him into the crowd. Could have easily hurt either Firminho or one of the fans. I couldn’t have too many complaints if he had got a yellow for that (could possibly argue it warrants a red).
If Firminho has racially abused him, then he should be banned from all football grounds in the UK for life, same as any fan would be.

Oh another sign the ref totally lost it btw, Davies was warming up along the side and comes on the pitch and gets involved, should have been a straight yellow for him for that as well

I think there's probably enough technology to clear this up conclusively. My guess is that there wont be a will to pursue it. The matter will dies down and then an inquiry will just fizzle out to some BS conclusion.

I completely agree that insulting someone using their race is unacceptable. It doesnt mean these foreign players understand that or think it as rascism. More a dig.
The Colombian player who made a slanty eye gesture at the south Korean during an international was bemused by the accusation.

He's been in Europe long enough to know what is and isn't acceptable.

Hope Holgate only pushes this investigation forward if he is certain a racial term was used. Red or not, it's not nice to falsely accuse anyone of racism.

Doesn’t matter where he is from. When you go to another country, you are subject to their rules and laws. You learn what is acceptable before you go. He has been here long enough to know what’s acceptable in any case.
I wouldn’t go abroad without some knowledge of how what I do and say might be construed or recepted.

Yeah, but there's ways and means of backing him up. He didn't have to accuse directly Firmino of anything. He just needed to back up Holgate's character. He didn't though, he just passed the buck onto Walsh.
