Last years thread was closed down, so here we go...

I need a small bit of advice as we're looking to book a holiday. Has anyone ever done a fly and camp holiday in the french alps with a child younger than 1?
We are hoping to go at the end of June early July for about 13 nights.
a few questions
1 - did it end up being expensive as you couldn't bring all the 'stuff'?
2 - was the holiday suitable for the toddler?
3 - if doing it again would you do anything different?

thanks in advance
looking forward to hearing where other Blues are heading.

.....haven’t booked anywhere just yet, but will certainly do Majorca in June, Cyprus in July/August and Crete in September. Probably fit two or three others in, might even make my cruise debut but I get sea sick.

Made my cruise debut in Sept, Greek isles from Venice on the Norwegian Star, wondered why I'd waited so long, you wouldn't know you were moving mate, go for it.

Not at all trying to criticise, because I presume you've done this before and therefore have solutions to the issues I'm about to mention... If I had a very young child like you're talking about it wouldn't even cross my mind to take it on a plane or take it camping - both strike me as rather baby-unfriendly activities.

If Mrs. Tree and I go anywhere for more than a long weekend this year, it will be South Africa again.

Morocco, Mexico, Guatemala and Belize for sure.

Hoping for Vilnius and Minsk as well, depending on whether flights work and how much of a pain the visa application is.

I´ve no experience of it but that sounds like hard work, mate. Are you into camping yourself? I mean, the positive aspect with a child that young is they can´t really moan about being bored and not enjoying it.

I'd recommend a cruise, Eggs. We went with Marella last August. We flew out to join the ship in Corfu so the weather's perfect from the start. Very smooth seas and met a few Blues onboard as well.

As a semi-experienced cruiser, I would definitely recommend going on one, especially if it's a good line and route, and the sea-sickness shouldn't be an issue.

The size of many of the newer, large-named ships is unreal (90K-150KGT) and the stabilisers make it a smooth journey unless you're on a rough transatlantic.

God, at points you wouldn't even know you were at sea unless you looked out of a window. Plus, there's so much to do on-board you are never bored.
