Energumene out of the arkle.
Shiskin has a much easier task now

...been a dreadful 24 hours, I had a nice return on Energumene but even more on Shishkin. Thyme Hill pulled out the stayers this morning was a really big winner and more of a sickener for me. Run Wlid Fred was a handicap good thing and favourite for Kim Muir, I had it @ 36-1 and that’s now being saved for Irish National. Ah well.

Ante-post taken a real bashing like no previous years but that’s part of the game. Been concentrating on handicaps these last weeks (NRNB), 6 day decs out for Thursday in the next half hour.

Fingers crossed for no more bombshells. Ballyadam @ 40-1 & 33-1 for Supreme is a big single winner, only 16-1 Appreciate It but I have that in plenty of tasty multiples so either of those win the first and it’ll be a good start on Tuesday.

Good luck everybody.

Appreciate it is my big fancy for the Tuesday, I've been doing little bets on it since December each week. Have about 100 quid on it with odds from 3/1 - 5/2

11/8 currently. If it wins it sets my week up

The Imperial cup today Sandown 2:25
Favourites have a poor record in this race, as does the first 3 in the betting.
11 out of the last 11 winners were rated 124 or higher and 8 out of 11 were aged 4-6.
I’ve done, one true king and Miranda hoping one will get me a shilling or two for Cheltenham

William Hill go first 6, Paddy power first 5

Good luck with your bets today

....One True King a non-runner I think.

£50k bonus to win it & any race at the Festival. Pipe is the only one to achieve it on 3 separate occasions so always worth looking at his entries. Leoncavallo looks like he’s had a good long break in preparation for a tilt at the bonus, but he’s getting a bit long in the tooth at 9yo (80-1 to win today & a/r at the Festival with Sky).

I actually liked the look of Miss Heritage 25/1 until the stats put me off, Richard Johnson on it too. Interesting tricky race.

....Pipe horses stuck in traffic, sounds like they won’t make it to Sandown in time.

Cheltenham news: Roksana going for the Mares Hurdle and not the Stayers (a little surprising given Thyme Hill is a non runner).

Had no idea mine was a non runner until I saw your post, so I put that money back onto Miss Heritage each way 25/1 as I stated above I quite liked it, but a 15p rule 4. Not up a great deal but better than losing. Thanks for pointing that out.

....I looked at the Cheltenham entries & saw Skelton only had Langer Dan in the Martin Pipe so I chucked a few quid on it at 50-1 NRNB ahead of the Imperial Cup. After it won, it’s now into 8-1 but I doubt it will get in at the weights.

I had Thyme Hill at 16's for Stayers and had a few bets on it over the year at those odds, gutted he is out. Appreciate It is a nice double figure odds slip I have but I still think taking 8's about Envoi Allen for the Marsh is my best antepost bet of the lot. Gutted to lose Next Destination for what I will always call the RSA as had him at 33's for that and didn't back him for NH Chase.

Anyway I think Appreciate It, Shishkin and Concertista will all win for favourite backers on Tuesday. Leaning back towards Epatante on the drier ground for Champion Hurdle over Honeysuckle and glad I have Houx Gris at double figure odds in the Fred Winter. Looking forward to a great week of racing even if the fields are smaller this year.

Cheltenham Eve Eve......

Some value bets as the main fancies the prices are away

Champion hurdle, Goshen (10/3) - owes me big time for last year, i know he has to give honeysuckle and Epante 7lbs but think he’s the best horse in the race, way he won at wincanton, I’ve also had a decent bet on Epante after fighting 5th, if honeysuckle wins fair play.

National hunt, Remastered (9/1), cracking EW bet, made all at Ascot, good jumper

Coral cup, got 3 in the race,
Thomas Darby (14/1) - top weights have decent record in this, good Cheltenham form and last year demolished song for someone giving him 7lb, only up 2lb higher

Botox has (11/1) - again very good Cheltenham form beat allmankind over hurdles and has been trained for this race

Monte Cristo (12/1) - hasn’t ran since st Stephen’s day were he won by 7l so will be fresh, gone up 12lbs but think he deserves it.

Ballymore hurdle, Bravemansgame (3/1) - Really impressive when he beat Star Gate at Newbury and Paul Nichols compared him with Denman so that’s good enough for me.

Grand Annual, Zanza (8/1) - last time out going easily fell 3 out at Cheltenham, I think would’ve won, not run since been kept on same mark 144, winner Sky Pirate has gone up 18lbs and 2nd ibleo gone up 17lbs and zanza been trained for this really think got decent chance.

Champion Bumper, Sir Gerhard brown (15/8) - unbeaten in 3 starts, I know Kilcruit win was visually impressive but just think at race at leopardstown fell apart, three stripe life is a danger aswell, it’s a bumper so can never really can tell, ive got Sir Gerhard at a much bigger price

Pertemps hurdle final, Come On Teddy (10/1) - imperial Alcazar has to give him 8lbs,for the last race but cruised the race before so don’t get price difference and will definitely be in frame I think.

Kim Muir Challenge cup, Time TO Get up (5/1) - back him at much bigger price when fav was still in now a NR, so probably not best value but should go well.

Triumph Hurdle, Zanahyir (7/4) - couldn’t understand why zanahyir was joint fav for so long with Tritonic, but now the prices are closer to where they should be just think he’s a better horse and I think he’ll win.

Gold Cup, A Plus Tard ( 5/1) - don’t think Al Boum Photo will win, won’t take anything away 2 cups in a row but think this a better race to last 2 , A plus Tard beat Chacun Pour Soi fav for champion chase over 2m, If rain comes would maybe bet Native Rive or Royale Pagaille

Also the ‘bankers’ but prices have gone but wouldn’t put you off.

Just my thoughts so don’t shoot the messenger n hopefully get few winner, done let me put you off backing anything else.

Prices are correct at time.

Tiger roll going in the cross country again, hope he proves he's still got it. The one I want to win this week coming tho is native river in the big one ,love this gutsy oldy ,fingers crossed for him
