Ah the old 10.15 pm Friday night Saturday night B&I sailings, arriving at 7.30 am - no flights or hotels, or live tv matches back then, just buckets of duty free priced Guinness on the boat, full English brekkie on arrival then the Devonshire before and after. Shuttle from Lime Street to the boat Saturday evening.
I don’t know, they do always announce after the race if there’s been a fatality.
It might just have been a really bad fall but not fatal. Fingers crossed anyway.
