Normally I'd agree with this, but the nature of the events that make up that data are so bad that its hard not to think (know, really) that a fix is taking place.

That decision against us for example required them to in effect re-write the offside rule in order to rule it out. Then there is that penalty vs Villa.
Ok. But what’s there to gain from calling a decision in favour of Villa? Or disallowing an Everton goal? A sceptic would simply call that kind of ‘evidence’ as confirmation bias and the talk of the persecuted fan...which all fans feel regardless of who they support. It’s partly a coping mechanism.

I think nearly every club in the PL has had a goal ruled out because of a fingernail being offside. VAR frustrates fans of all clubs. We just create the narrative around it to show how unfair it is for ‘our club‘ while all other clubs are getting an edge. Not sure the broader data tells a particular story really.

Its a farce. A global cash generating golden goose. It has run its course though. I reckon the bubble will burst and clubs will start to fold. Will always be there but like Wrestling and Snooker it will drop down the list.
What will replace it?

These are interesting stats. However, I’m always a bit sceptical about conspiracy theories as they cherrypick data to suit an agenda.

If this United ‘bias’ dips into next season with a bigger sample then it may have more of my attention.

Yes that's fair enough but can you guess who had the most last season? Clue, like this year it wasn't the two teams that were breaking points records and averaging over 70% possession in games just like this season. I think for a while now going back to Ferguson days there's been something brewing.

No doubt! Well done Everton for not bitching about whatever Man City did. At least we got one thing right. With VAR and FFP both in place, things seem more corrupt than ever, or maybe just more unfair than ever?! I remember seeing Italian games, ŵhen the draw was the favourite result, at the end of the season. It is unbelievable to me that this happened the next year as well. That would never have happened in the top English league. The bookmakers must have had links with those responsible for the fixing, but I don’t remember any action against any bookmaker. They would put a red herring or 2 on the coupon as well, as I recall, but how can the draw be the favourite outcome before a game starts?! Now it seems more like a longer term fix, than a short term mafia threat, or whatever. But with more and more £ at the top of the game there will always be corruption and people open to it

I remember me mate ringing me up one morning and telling me to get on the draw in a Monday night 3rd division Italian match. I put a tonne on at 2-1 and by kick off the odds for the draw had gone into 1-2 The game finished 1-1 but the bookies never paid out. Which I think was a disgrace, not like they would have given you the money back if your horse is nobbled.

That sucks that they didn’t pay out. They must have had an idea that something dodgy was going on, yet they still took your bet. I wonder if they also refunded losing bets on the match? I still don’t get how the bookies seemed to get off Scott free, when they had a good chunk of a fixed price coupon, with odds on, or even money draws. Italian clubs were later punished, but I don’t think bookmakers ever were.

Here in Argentina we have probably the worst case of football corruption: a man named Julio Grondona was the president of Club Independiente and then of the AFA (our soccer association) for 35 uninterrupted years from 1979 (with the militars in the national goberment) until his death in 2013. Basically it was a dictatorship.

His aids to Independiente were always suspected, mainly in the 7 Copa Libertadores they won back in the day (where on many occasions they only played 4 games to win a cup)

Fortunately, a few years after his death, some wiretapes came to light, in wich Grondona detailed how he paid referees and linemans in those Cups to help Independiente.

In 35 years with Grondona we (Racing) won only 1 trophy, and since his death in 2013 we already won 3, while Independiente got relegated and won nothing

that's the story of the most corrupt club in the world, Independente.

I'm not suggesting everton will benefit for their own good mate - simply to halt sheff u for the benefit of a shiny sky brand..

Cos I really don't think "The Big 6" all get preferentail judgments (I certainly don't think Spurs have this season but it will hopefully even itself out) I'm only having a little joke mate ;)
