How has the world changed?

Both those things happen on my street. Kid fell out of a tree a few weeks ago and broke both arms and a leg. Had to have the air ambulance take him to hospital.

I have to dodge a football or a kid on my way home most nights, too.

Back in the day he'd have ridden his bike home and when his dar got in from work he'd take him in the car (after giving him a thrashin) then they'd wait for hours cos the x ray man had gone home and then some more hours cos the plaster man had gone home.

And just to counter some of the negativity

Word processors are much better than typrewriters - how many sheets of paper were wasted in the 80s because of a single typo
I can live in Australia and still get my Everton news at the same time as someone living on Merseyside
A bog standard family car is much better now than it was in the 80s
A choice of foods from all around the world is readily available
Overseas holidays are much more affordable
60s tower blocks being knocked down and more aesthetically pleasing buildings replacing them
30 minute overseas calls for less than $3

can't help noticing that the cost of a cold one isn't in there ?
has the price of a slab also gone up by an enormous amount in Oz or is it still cheap to sup at home ?

$40-45 for most imported beer, upwards of $50 for a case of the better local stuff.
Still, quite a bit cheaper than $10-12 for a pint in the pub

I tell you what Ste, lad. I've been around on this planet for a long time kid. I've mad a few friends, but I've sure as hell made a few enemies too, hahahaha.

I've seen things. Things you wouldn't believe. Others you would. Nothing is as it seems these days, there's always a hidden motive or meaning. Keep yourself safe mate.
Well that was a bit random.

Do you remember getting in from the day of playing football or cricket and downing 2 pints of water with it hardly touching the sides. Do kids still play football and cricket on school fields?

Nah mate Hatton and the socialists sold them all off...oo-er a bit political there missus

Drink driving was the absolute norm when I was growing up. I remember a few Sunday mornings when my arl man had actually " lost " his car as he'd been that drunk he couldnt remember where he'd parked it.

Another massive one, was everyone seemed to smoke. I remember the first place I worked was like a gas chamber due to the smoke, plus they had porno calendars all over the walls, despite women working there too.

Ah... the good old days... I cringe at how I used to carry on back in the day...We didn't know any better is the short answer

when I was a kid, 5 adults in a house all smoking
lead water pipes
Ice on the inside of the windows

In real terms 1 radio station, the light program ( aka R2 now )...R4 and R3 was posh and for that sort, eg not council house tenants.

I know you're being sarcastic about the Mail here, but I just don't buy any papers at all these days.

I read The Express that was in my mum's earlier today, and it's just a comic. Everything will either kill you, give you bird flu or cure diabetes if you believe the papers these days.

She had the Echo too, don't get me started on that.

Oh and on topic, I remember when it was 13p. And this was all fields......

Edit; remember when telly used to be good on Friday and Saturday nights despite there being 300 less channels?

see your 13p and lower you to 2d

Lovin this thread but shouldn't it be bumped to the oldies thread or is that defunct under the 180 day rule
