Its early days, but considering the opponents we should had a minimum of 10 points. More worrying is the lack of creativity and the lack of chance creating. Keep in mind; we have not played against any of the supposed top teams.

We need 456 passes to create a goal, while our opponents need the following: Man. City (197), Liverpool (198), Arsenal (322), Chelsea (279), Man. Utd (320), Spurs (262), Leicester (430).

We produce 12,8 shots per. match, while our opponents produce the following: Man. City (20,4), Liverpool (18,2), Arsenal (18,6), Chelsea (16,6), Man. Utd (14,6), Spurs (15,4), Leicester (12,4). Of the 12,8 average shot per. game we have an accuracy of 26%, while our opponents have the following: Man. City (39%), Liverpool (39), Arsenal (40%), Chelsea (37%), Man. Utd (31%), Spurs (32%), Leicester (24%). To score a goal we need 12,8 shots, while our opponents need: Man. City (6,3), Liverpool (6), Arsenal (8,1), Chelsea (8,3), Man. Utd (9,1), Spurs (7), Leicester (12,4).

Further, we produce 3,4 shots per. game who hit the target, while the stats for our opponents are the following: Man. City (7,6), Liverpool (6,8), Arsenal (5,2), Chelsea (6,2), Man. Utd (4,6), Spurs (5), Leicester (3). Of these we have a goal percent of 29, while our opponents have the following: Man. City (42%), Liverpool (44%), Arsenal (30%), Chelsea (32%), Man. Utd (34%), Spurs (44%), Leicester (33%).

Statistically, we will produce slightly in excess of one goal per match. More precisely, on average, one has to shoot nine shots per. game to score a goal, and about 3 shots on goal to score. With that premise, we need to be solid defensively, but so far, we have averaged 1.4 goals per game against us. If we look at shot against us, we are among the teams who allows the opponents fewest shots, but the opponents have been highly effective against us. I think it will balance out, and in the long run I am not so worried about our defensive play. More important is our offensive game, and that is what we need to develop further. Is Silva the right man? I'm skeptical

It’s not entitled to think we should be beating Palace, Villa and Bournemouth. Drawing 1 or 2 of them, ok it happens, but drawing 1 and losing the other 2 is shocking for a team with aspirations like ours. He’s right, we should be on 11-15 points right now.
reasonably put but I'm not sure why the result of that is sack the manager...?

Exactly. Everton dominated those matches and lost. Gomes losing his concentration and stinking as well as Delph kicking it into his own net is hardly Silva's fault. Yet he does a lesser job setting up the team, but wins against Watford and Wolves, yet no one seems concerned.

You forgot about the all important Zone 14.

you made this stuff up, didn't you?

It’s not... not yet at least. But nothing wrong with acknowledging that it’s been a pretty crap start. And I can understand the pressure he’s coming under from some fans... he deserves more time but if we’re still lingering below 9th come Christmas he’ll be on borrowed time, that’s just the cut throat business football is these days.

They let us dominate. That is, they let us have the ball, but we created nothing more than the opponent.
It’s not JUST because we create little, it’s more than that. We have the ball quite a bit. Part of it is that we don’t choose to shoot. Part of it is that we continue to give the ball to the other team. Granted, it is skewed by our heavy possession numbers, but we are the worst team in the league in ball retention. We have too many players in our attack that make the wrong decision with the ball.

But playing Kean would help. Iwobi or Sigurdsson playing better would help. Coleman needs to play better or sit. Delph has to play, but he’s given it away a bit as well. DCL needs to sit of course.

But it’s still hard to argue with the tactics in matches like Bournemouth and Villa where we completely dominate the ball, and the chances, and mental mistakes are made by individuals, in some cases in direct conflict with what the manager has asked the players to do.

That’s fine, but is that Silva’s fault?

We are the worst side when it comes to unsuccessful touches, so yes, we do a lot of unnecessary errors. The question is, why do we make so many errors and wrong decisions with the ball? Obviously, I do not have the facade of that answer, but I do not think it is solely due to the individual qualities. Even if that were the case, it is the coach's responsibility to increase these individual qualities. As well as putting up the playing style according to the players' qualities.

Is it a mental thing, if so, then the manager has a basic problem. It is actually quite disturbing, and indicates that our player recruitment has been unsuccessful. As well, it indicates that we have a poor training culture. The responsibility rests here on the sporting apparatus, and finally on the manager.

Another explanation is that one has trained too little on the playing style. To become good at something, you have to practice a lot. And the training should be as similar to the match situations as possible to create security/predictability and relationships on the field. If you dont know the team movements, etc, you will make mistakes. Nils Arne Eggen, formerly famous coach of Rosenborg, always said: "What you can't do at the Friday training, you also can't perform in the Sunday match!",

I'm pretty sure I had these very same arguments when trying to defend Martinez and got shouted down. Manager can't legislate for individual errors, etc.

It's going the same way.

Of course it's entitled. Manchester City have got the most expensive squad ever assembled and lost to Norwich, but you think we should be on 15 points when we've had 3 away games. It's ridiculous.
