In a previous life, I was good enough at what I did to be paid simply daft money. Its a reach to even describe it as "earned". £10000 (net) was the best month.

But then I worked out that I didnt need the hassle, (nor that much cash) any more, so jacked it in for courier work. Now that was way less, but every penny was earned. And I loved it. 6 years of that, then 2 years of caring, were by a mile, way more enjoyable and satisfying. Semi retired now, as in might get a job if I can be arsed. I do understand that I am very fortunate mind. I/we had a choice that many cant have.

If I had that luxury I probably be volunteering in a charity shop or the like.

Technically what I do contributes to wellbeing and knowledge in the bigger picture, but it's mostly pretty boring layers of bureaucracy which don't provide much personal gratification.

Like I said, I appreciate I am blessed with the situation, but you get cards dealt, good, and bad. Like everyone, I have had both. The main good one has helped me cope with the bad ones.

As for volunteering, its not something that is really up my alley. That may sound selfish, but once you do volunteer, I would find it incredibly difficult to unvolunteer. I guess I deal with personal gratification by looking at the man in the mirror.

Blimey, this has gotten deep all of a sudden !

Alright oumar lad,not fancy putting your boots on again?

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what people earn if your happy in yourself and you have good family and mates that’s priceless. The biggest bellends I’ve met around the world are the ones with money. Like that tit in the other thread, I would rather gauge my own eyes out than spend time with people like that.

Enough to live a reasonably care free (financial wise) life. Luckily not really been hit in every day life with the current inflation. Also appreciative of the standard of living I can afford. Lots of people have it far worse than me. Don't care about the ones who have it better.

My auntie and uncle are very well off, they run a charity for Children of Chernobyl, uncle also walks dogs - and my auntie is a meds dispenser in a care home, both just to pass the time.

I'd be on a beach somewhere if I had their money!
