How would YOU get this squad performing?

Thought this would be an interesting thread to post up given everything else going on with the Board etc.

Given the current state of the squad and the terrible form it's in - how would YOU, realistically, try and set them up to turn things around? players, systems, tactics etc. - get your manager caps on and let's hear it ? genuinely interested to hear some thoughts.

Sh@t fly's high when you hit it with a stick. We need a manager that can put some backbone in this team . And take no nonsense off the board.

I think we need to jib that formation off for a start.

Just because everyone else seems to do it doesn’t mean it works for us, we haven’t got the players for it.

Fitness, learn to defend as a team, don't keep changing from a 4 or 5 at the back. Keep one and stick to it. Loads of crap teams do very well from just having an organised defence and tight midfield unit

I don't think you can. The quality isn't there. I'm sure most of them are trying their best, but if you put a Championship squad in the Premier League then, more likely than not, its going to finish very close to the bottom.

The only way we can climb the table it with better players, and it doesn't look like we're getting any.

I would analyse everything that Frank is doing and then do the total opposite. That would probably see an improvement right away as it takes a whole new level of crap to have a record as bad Franks has been this season.

Drop gana and iwobi also when garner is fit. Play 442 with Simms up front. Simplify the game, two banks of four and long balls. Prepare for championship.

I wouldn't permanently sign coady either, he's been crap past few games and think he's only gonna get worse no matter how good a game he talks

New manager for starters as Frank looks completely lost, convert back to 442 as its no good having 2 wingbacks who cannot cross a ball. If that fails we are doomed !!!

... which is mad because a staple of Lampard's team last season was their pressing from the off. Sure it didn't carry over 90 minutes, but it was a marked improvement in work rate from under Benitez.

Not once this season has the team started a game with that intensity. Obviously they've convinced themselves that the hard work is over (survived relegation) and it's going to be the easy life in 2022/23 season.

I think the first thing we need to do is bring in some sort of Sports Psychologist to work with the players and help them to block out the outside noise that is going on and just concentrate on one game at a time, help them to get into the right mindset again.
As for setting the team up Id play 4-3-2-1, It would be a 4-5-1 without the ball. We repeatedly try to play with wide players yet none of ours can actually cross/beat a man they just happen to be quick, so I would bring them narrow and have them running/pressing at the CB looking to play the ball through to whoever is upfront. the midfield would just be about staying solid and recycling the ball forward. I'm not saying this would work but it keep us a bit more compact in the middle a bit rather than the massive gaps we see in games at the moment.

I think we are pretty much at the level of the players we have, our squad lacks quality all over the park, we are very much a bottom 8 team and I really don't think any manager is going to do any better than that with this squad. Not fit enough, not quick enough and without any creativity.

I think our only chance of survival this season, is a new manager who is prepared to just go route one, that would require a decent target man, who can hold up the ball or lay it off efficiently and a pacey clinical wide forward playing along side him, with two banks of 4 behind them.

Prehistoric I know, but, with what we have at our disposal, I really don't see any other way.

Bomb the absolute gash that has been festering in the dressing room for years - Keane, holgate, Davies, Mina and some of the newer gash like McNeil.

Actually physically remove them from club, unregister them as players and fook them off anywhere if nobody wants to buy them. They’ve had more than enough chances and I’m sick to the back teeth of the spineless cowards.

Recall branthwaite, Warrington, nkounkou, dobbin and start selecting these and youngsters like price, simms, mills, welch in whatever system you like, but go more direct and simplify the game, players around a big cf and get it forward quicker - the kids couldn’t do any worse than the cowards getting picked every week in the first team currently.
