What is IFFHS?

Howard's been a good keeper, but he's not been great.

I also agree a top-class striker is a priority, but given the choice I would first get a top-class goalie.

Manuel Neuer is a superior keeper to Tim Howard. Nigel Martyn's place seems too low, and Howard's too high. Southall should be top 10.


Whatever the IFFHS are basing their rankings on, it's not necessarily related to the reality.

Neither are your or my opinions. I brought it up because it's unaffiliated and not an American contingent who does the voting. It's unbiased as far as I can tell. Perfect? No. But a baseline. And Neuer after his career will be above Howard, I'm sure.

A bad fan accepts mediocrity and turns a blind eye to obvious flaws.

Howard is poor. Yes he does some good stuff, he has good games as well, hes a professional footballer so of course he will. He makes far too many mistakes for such an important position.

Hes miles above him already! Its madness to think otherwise.

Lists are just lists. Van Der Saar the third best goalie ever? Do me a favour! Fabian Barthez at number 12?? Jurgen Croy isnt even on the list!
 

Just realised probably the best goalkeeper ever (not named Neville) isnt on the list in Lev Yashin. This list holds no merit. (unless im missing some qualifier that its only of recent time)

Gordon Banks aint on there either.
