People are living in a dream world if u think we can get a better GK than Howard without spending over 10M. Yes Howard makes mistakes but he also makes world class saves. His save form berbatov yesterday would of beat many a GK. if Howard didn't make any mistakes we would have a top 5 in the world GK.

Perspective is becoming a much needed word on this forum.

Your perspective you mean. It's called a forum, people have different perspectives, usually different from yours.
 

From what I saw from the QPR/Reading highlights today, that mccarthy kid had a blinder. help me out, is he any good? probably no butland, but still?

How many goalies go for 10M these days?

He could easily be replaced for half that. Weather thats a pressing priority is another discussion.
 
I have no prob spending north of 5-10mill on a new keeper, preferably a young one.

If someone comes in and plays for 10-15 years then it is a snip, season on season, your prob looking at less at 1mill a year for someone like Butland - i wont say anything about the lad because i havnt seen enough of him as some others seem to.

One keeper who has impressed me who could prob be in reach is David Stockdale at Fulham. Taudul the young Polish keeper looks like he may have something any time ive seen him.
 
I think it's something we need to start looking into, Howard's mistakes are becoming more regular now. With Mucha as his back up he knows he has no challenge to his position as our number 1, so complacency starts to sneek in. He could do with a young keeper like Butland who is England U21 international and a very good goalkeeper coming in and challenging him.
 
Lloris for 8m is bargain of the century for Spurs.

If it wasn't the London factor that lured him in I don't see why he'd have rejected us had we looked at him.

He's absolutely superb imo. Howard needs replacing.
 

said it for ages dont rate the fella at all, average at best, no command of his area and gets beat from angles he shouldn't, on the plus side normally a good shot stopper and not bad in one on ones, you will have the same thread about him at least four or five times a season, but it will not make a difference moyes rates him and even if he didnt for the money we have to spend it would take some doing, to do more than replace one average player with another one.
Not to sure if you could blame him for the goal on sat as on fist viewing it just looked like bad luck.
 
Howard does make good instinctive saves like the Berbatov one on Saturday. However, he is very slow off his feet for some reason, diving and jumping late. Coupled with poor handling, this could account for the Norman Wisdom moments where rebounds go in..and off posts etc. I wonder whether or not its something to do with his nervous condition.
 
I'd have expected Howard to make the save from berbatov on saturday - he was on his near post after all.

Too often beaten from distance. Doesn't command his area. Punches when he could catch, and needs to be more physical aerially. Sometimes you can just tell with him when a howler's on it's way. He's looked decidedly dicey from the beginnin' of the season. I reckon he's too familiar with bein' unchallenged for his startin' spec, and familiarity, as they say, breeds contempt.

Other than that, for £3m he hasn't been too bad.
