I feel sorry for the lad a he is badly out of his depth, his decision making isnt up to it, his setting of himself for angled shots isnt great and he has a tendency to get caught out on long shots (not all as he can actually pull of a decent shot stop).
Listen that should be bread butter for a top PL keeper at this standard. I have to critise Davey as well. Im sure the lad has some kind of ability but i just dont think he has that mentality you need at the top he cracks under the anxiety of it and makes a gaff.
Last night is a perfect example of why the keeper it is a priority position for us, i know this is mainly the reason why many felt we havnt looked at it before, listen i feel strongly that a decent keeper i think may have assisted in getting us the three points last night.

Howard should have done better with both of their goals yesterday, but that doesn't make him ****e.
I would agree that he needs a good number 2 to push him for his place in the side, but to write off a GK of his calibre is ridiculous,

Football is a funny old game eh. Howard made a fantastic stop with his trailing hand and the commentators were purring over him.
He could have maybe done better with the first but he took it early and the 2nd he had no real chance of getting it.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion - all he had to do was basic goalkeeping; keep your eye on the ball, react to the shot. If he had simply stood his ground he picks up the bouncing ball.
If that was Reina you'd be laughing at him.

He did that panicked jump thing before, not sure if it was this season or in pre-season? I remember him doing it anyway.

I'm torn at the moment like. I used to love Timmy but I'm turning on him. His distribution is pants -- always has been -- but he always seemed a reliable presence. But long shots are a clear weakness and then now he's acting like a tool in one on ones.
I know the yanks love him and to be fair he always seems to be very crucial for the states when I watch them, with some killer saves at key moments. But I've not seen that in a blue shirt enough in the past year or so. I really hope we sign Boruc anyway, and the lad gets an actual chance unlike Mucha.
I don't agree,Howard made himself as big as he could,it worked earlier when he was able to save a certain goal with his feet.If he had stayed on the ground and the ball looped over his head he would be criticised for being static.

I'm going to defend Howard, in all honesty I didn't think he did anything wrong; his positioning for the first goal was fine, he just got totally wrong footed, I wasn't expecting Ba to do that.
And for the second goal he made a decision that Ba was going to lob him, its all about percentages; the fact that he came running out actually put Ba off and he pulled back a bit and didn't get the full connection he wanted. If Howard would have stayed on his line for the second goal there would have been to much space available for Ba to shoot into; if he did not jump then he would have been lobbed.

yes he make mistakes ( pls outline a keeper who doesn't) but overall hes solid and has been good for us and i wouldn't like what little money we have spent on a new keeper in January
