we need to secure atleast 2-3 new signings
So hugos signing would have been welcomed by me anyways.
if he is off to fulham we just need to sign somebody else...and it ain't gonna be a freaking messi

Whatever. Even Newcastle are a bigger draw than Moyes' Everton. We need to acknowledge that. The last two sighnings we made we were in competition with West Ham (Jelavic) and Stoke City (Naismith). If a London PL club of any description or a club outside the top 6 come in for a player, we are not going to get him.

The problem is salary (and perhaps to a lesser extent, for some, location), not training routines.

Manager's methods (if you're a forward)/salary/ambition shown by club/likelihood of success...we fall down on these.

It's not a controversial statemnt to say that PL clubs from the capital city and top PL clubs not from the capital always have the drop on us in signings like this. It's reality.

No, it's a banal statement, and quite clearly not what I was referring to. You made reference to training methods as a reason a player might not come: "Moyes in particular, given his reputation for boot camp training". I was merely saying that I don't think it has a profound impact on a player's decision.

Obviously there are more attractive clubs, but salary is almost exclusively the driving force when it comes to us competing with non-CL clubs for players. Of course, some blame can be placed on Moyes that we're not more successful and therefore more appealing (and here, if you wanted, you can spiral right back to "MOYEZIZ BAD TRAININGZ" much like my childhood dog that kept running over to my King Kong teddy every time he had an erection) but that gets us into a very dull Catch-22 about "well, if we could offer higher salaries..."

I'm not contesting your bigger point, just one of the smaller ones it contains.

'My childhood dog' eh? That old excuse.

What Fox said does kind of fit in with the mirror article, he said its hopeful, which is where they got 'pipped from under Davids Moyes' nose' from.

... Not sure now mate. We Were very close on an agreement but if Fulham give him what he's asking for they're welcome to him.

Oh well.

To be fair, I was only interested as he's Colombian.

I hope we get a Mexican. I really want Everton to have a Mexican player.
