Hull City have sacked head coach Mike Phelan.

Phelan, 54, took over as caretaker manager following Steve Bruce's departure in the summer, becoming a permanent appointment in October.

But with City in the relegation zone, collecting just 13 points from 20 games, the club announced on Tuesday they had "parted company" with Phelan.

Gary Rowett going in apparently.

So Derby sack Clement. He goes to a Swansea.

Birmingham sack Rowett. He goes to Hull.

GREAT LEAGUE LADS

That Clement getting another crack at manager is a strange one.
Didn't last long at Derby in the Championship goes back to Bayern no less as assistant, then in no time at all back as manager of a Premiership club.

for the record Clement got sacked at derby for doing too good a job!

they actually sacked him because there was a major danger of them actually getting promoted that season and they felt they weren't ready for it and didn't want to bomb in the league, so they sacked him genuinely to avoid that.

google let me down again as it doesn't tell me what i am looking for.

but at the time i remember distinctly reading about him not adopting the derby way, and potentially because of that he could take them up and they fail.

I know very little of derby so certainly did read it at the time being the case.

When Paul joined us last year we worked with him to develop a plan for the club which we asked him to embrace.

'It was clear in this plan, which was briefed to supporters, players, sponsors and all our stakeholders last summer that promotion this season was not the primary target.

'The priorities were building on the Derby way and style of football enjoyed in the past two seasons; adding depth and strength to our playing squad; and, developing and improving player and team performance.

'Sadly, on these measurements, we have not made enough progress and that is why we have decided to part company with Paul

That was one of the quotes at the time from the board. but generally there was a lot going about after sacking that they didn't want him to take them up and potentially bomb in the league for not adopting 'their style'
