for the record Clement got sacked at derby for doing too good a job!

they actually sacked him because there was a major danger of them actually getting promoted that season and they felt they weren't ready for it and didn't want to bomb in the league, so they sacked him genuinely to avoid that.

OK

they did, because he wasn't bought into the 'derby way' as the chairman said afterwards.

they had an idea of what they wanted from the team for when they went up and clement hadn't done that despite his obvious good season. So they sacked him in fear of him actually going the whole way, and then having an other terrible season there like they have done before

Yes, he was 'officially' sacked because he wasn't producing the style of football that the Chairman envisaged for the club.

Following a 7 game run with no wins which saw them slip from 1st to 5th

Surely even you can see that that's a little bit different to "sacked him because there was a major danger of them actually getting promoted that season" lollollol

@ijjysmith

taken from a derby fan site, who know more about it than anyone else

Now Clement wasn’t the right man and strange as it may seem was too focused on winning promotion to the Premier League, something the owners didn’t want. In a bizarre interview, Morris insisted that promotion was never on the agenda for this season and that the club wanted to build for the long term, playing the Derby way and nurturing talent. He continued that they had tried over the past few months to get Clement to think their way but in the end his short-term thinking made that impossible.

Even Derby fans have their share of conspiracy theorists Ash ;)
That's a bit like somebody quoting a Davek post from this forum as "proof" that 'Evertonians prefer Martinez over Koeman' lol
I probably read it more along the lines of these fan theories rather than official reports but generally if you can't trust fan sites of the club then who can you trust? ;)

To be fair, away from GOT, davek wasn't alone in thinking well of martinez either, one of my good mates also wanted martinez in charge even at the end.
