I would like to ask what people thought about hunting. In my opinion it is a great sport that allows you to get in to nature and dinner at the same time. Even if you don't get anything it is a great day out, I think their would be less violence if men were allowed to express themselves in this manner in a natural way.

I've never been a hunter but living in Texas, we've got 'em all over the place here. Deer, ducks, etc.... You name it, we shoot at it.

Think it looks like a proper sh1thouse sport when you see them toffs parading on horses getting dogs to hunt. Upper class game and i have absolutly no time for the upper-class. But i'm not particulary arsed if people wanna do that sort of stuff it's up to them

I express myself in a natural way a few times a week, more when she's away this week.

If you eat what you hunt/kill, then I have no problem with it, especially if the kill is instant, as opposed to being tore apart by hounds, or a bad shot that leaves an animal in pain for 10 minutes untill you get down to it.

Fox hunters, badger baiters etc etc should be hung by their bollox untill gravity deals with the situation, and then some.

calling hunting a 'sport' is inaccurate, sport implies that the contest is between teams/individuals that are more or less equally matched in ability and that it is conducted fairly. (obviously doesnt include the Premiership then!)

Seriously,
dogs v hares - not equal as the hares are held and let go just in front of the dogs

fox v dogs and pillocks on horesback - not equal and anyone who thinks it is needs to go and watch what happens on a hunt.

pheasant/rabbit etc v shotgun - well that's easy to work out who's gonna win that one!

Hunting should NEVER be described as sport. Go off and hunt so that you may eat, fair enough but just for the sake of it, it certainly wouldnt be something I would ever partake in.

Anyone who can get pleasure from killing for the sake of killing should be subjected to some serious brain analysis.

My uncle has a farm with sheep etc....foxes regulary kill his lambs/ chickens.....although Hunting the way it's done with hounds etc is barbaric in my eyes , I can see it from both sides. My uncle however doesn't agree with hunting , but does shoot foxes when he spots them near his land.

Coupled with the opinion of Hibbert being a fantastic right back, you might just be onto something here.

and the 'men expressing themselves in a natural way' bit -
so then chaps, let's hear it from you,

If you could go out and hunt animals and kill them as an expression of yourselves, would it make you less violent?

I'm seriously hoping that none of you will say 'yes'.

shooting foxes is a different issue, although I personally hate the idea of animals being shot, your uncle is protecting his flock etc. I can't imagine he sees it as anything other rhan something he has to do - not just for the sake of it.

I've had chickens taken by foxes so I can see the other side too. This is about 'sport' though.

As you get older you'll all take up hunting. Put something down and you instantly forget what it was, where you left it and what you were going to do with it. As for hunting with horses and dogs, I'd never get them all in our front room when I lose my car keys.
