No, "no idea". Just won a trophy with an ale house team, handed us our biggest PL points total and now manages a top international outfit at the world cup.

Perhaps you'd care to explain how that amounts to "No idea how to play football"?

The knee jerk reaction to sack Martinez was in my very humble opinion the beginning of our rapid downfall. Martinez had the vision required and the personality to properly represent this Club. He was just short of a good defensive coach - and I think he would have excelled with a progressive DoF working alongside him with some money to spend. in over 40 years I've never been so ambivalent to Everton - I endure match days rather than enjoy them and that hurts.
I have little faith in Moshiri - I just can't comprehend how he reached the decision to appoint Allardyce and Lee, especially in light of Allardyce's extra-curricular activities and his tacky demise as national coach. It irks me that we have the such a fantastically-run EITC which is a world leader in community integration whilst on the other had we have a manager who is widely regarded as a 'crook'....the parody is mind-numbing.

No idea how to implement the style he espoused.

Hence our decline to successive bottom half finishes. Our only 2 non top-8 finishes in the last 12 years.
Didn't have the players to play the style he espoused, but decided he was going to try and play it anyway. Recipe for disaster.

Am of the opinion that he had the right ambition for Everton, but tried to do it too quickly as first team coach. If he came in as DoF with a long term plan he could have made it work. But the person in charge of the first team has to be pragmatic enough to get the best out of what he has, and Martinez never saw that.

I'd be more than happy to see Martinez installed as our DoF at some time in the future.

If we can take one positive from his time at the club it's that we never looked frightened to play against the top teams.

The 13/14 team, and 15/16 team both called, they have something to say about his idea of how to play football.

Also, the group H punching bags that Belgium somehow got matched up with called, and made some offhand remarks about how the highest ranked team in the group was 41st, and the average was ranked 86th. They also said something about how Roberto has yet to beat a team ranked higher than 41st?? I dont know, really, I assume he must have based on how you've been talking about him....

Mikel Arteta is reported to be favourite for the Arsenal job, if they decide to go elsewhere, should we be knocking his door in? As far as I can see, he is really below the radar as far as Everton are concerned.
Surely with his previous with us he should be one of the favourites?
He must have picked up something from Pep in the last couple of years.

he also must have shown something for Pep to choose him as assistant.

Knee jerk reaction? lol

You mean firing him at the very END of the season, after 2 consecutive seasons of bottom half play??? How soon we forget he not only had the worst Everton season in the past 12-13 years, but the 2 worst?

When he was on tv for the Newcastle game he said he’d change nothing about his time at Everton, which tells you a lot about his delusional outlook.

He would be a top choice for me:-

A leader -Captain of Everton & Arsenal, even though he was only at the latter for a short period of time before being give the arm band.
He is multilingual - Spanish, Basque, Catalan English, French, Italian and Portuguese
Currently learning from the one of the greatest managers in the world.
UEFA A Coach

Worth a chance? or do we want someone with experience?

The terrible decision Moshiri made after sacking Martinez was to just cast around the PL and settle an admiring glance on Koeman because he'd got Southampton to 6th, but who's style and way of working was completely at odds to the way this club was set up. That's been the source of our problems. That and Moshiri's insistence on a DoF meaning there's been no oversight of (nor accountability for) terrible purchasing decisions made.

They have nothing of use to say about anything. They're the slackers and Judas's who've helped get us into this mess.
