I Cant Believe...

Here's my view for what its worth.

Firstly, i'll state fact. Kirkby is in Merseyside - comfortably in Merseyside. It will still be a Merseyside derby.

Another fact - we sing (or used to sing) "We're the Pride of Merseyside". Talking about Kirkby like it's Wigan or something makes you, as an Evertonian, a complete hypocrite and upset an awful lot of Evertonians who are from Kirkby and as scouse as anyone living on Shiel Road.

Another fact (which I know for certain as I made the journey today). Kirkby is 15 minutes drive away from Goodison - and thats one main road basically.

Also, how about a comparison. Would you stop loving your kid because he/she moved out of his/her home to get a new house with his wife/husband? Of course not. So why stop loving Everton simply because we're moving?

Here's some perspective I guess - Goodison Park is a building that, whilst being heaped in tradition, is crumbling apart drastically. It's time to move forward.

And Kirkby (i'm afraid those anti-Kirkby will never seemingly accept this) is as scouse as the docks.

kirkby- it's still in merseyside you balloon!

vote is in. i was not for the move and made my point at the time. now i'm behind the club as i said i would be whatever the result.

well said mate

we follow the team, not the ground.

cal, do you even know where Goodison/Kirkby/Liverpool/Merseyside is?

you sure dont sound like you do mate.

i have no problem with you not wanting Kirkby...... but if you dont know where it is and are basing all of your argument on location........................

How the hell can you consider 4miles out, out of the city? I think the whole debate is a complete joke, 4miles!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??! You can walk that distance in less than an hour easily, what a quick stroll out of the city...

The romantisist in me would love to see Goodison park redeveloped, the fantasist in me would like to see a development on the docks, the realist in me wants to see a fantastic stadium at Kirkby which isnt too far to travel.

Im a realist

Sometimes people think with their head, sometimes with their heart. On this occasion I call for the use of both. My head and my heart thinks this :

Goodison is old and dying slowly, as were the team till Moyes took over. Moyes thinks it is time to give the world a new revitalised Everton and to make that last he deserves a new Ground to allow this team to come to life. The romance and the memories will live forever, and we will always "know our history". But this is our chance now to write the future to give new generations a history of their own to remember.

Sorry for being sentimental but I always will be. But my head has joined in and it is time to move on.

cal i am just as upset as you mate.

but where else is there??????

we have been there and tried this is the way forward!!!
