I Hate Phil Neville

Average player, nice enough bloke, boring as hell to listen to.

Why the hate? Genuine question now, I don't know what he did to offend Evertonians? What is just his average being that offended? :D

He is just a massive phoney.

As the years went by, more and more struggled to stomach having a Club Captain with this attitude;

"Only twice have we finished outside the top 10 and that is a massive achievement for a club like Everton"

Model pro though, I'll always say that about Neville

Took his fitness seriously and led by example in that regard. Good captain from that stand point. You always knew he was working hard to make the most of what he had. He may not have had absolute love for Everton, but he certainly didn't treat his time here as a paid vacation like some others have done, especially during the Walter days.

Probably played a couple of years too long really. Should have perhaps moved on after the 10/11 season and maybe went down a league to the Championship

Overall, I'm glad he played for us, he just overstayed his welcome a little bit. Not our greatest captain, but by no means our worst. Was paid to do a job and he did it to the best of his ability and never dossed. No hard feelings Phillip, go on your way son

I see what you did there

It's just the new social media phenomenon mate. Prove what a massive fan you are by expressing just how much you hate Phil/Moyes/Hibbert/Roubles/Osman/Kenwright, take your pick depending on who's in the media spotlight at the time.

Very well summed up. On the whole, I likes Neville, but he did just play a bit too long. He said on 5live before the match last night he knew the end was coming, was always going to keep on giving his all, and after Wigan he told Moyes that was it.

Talked down about the club while captain mainly. Something about top 10 being wonderful for a club like Everton.
Came from the top down, but he shouldn't have bought into it. I think it may have been taken a little out of context too. As in, he meant top 10 was great for a club of our financial stature, which it has been.

Some things shouldn't be said without an expectation of a backlash though.

He's derided because of that attitude, regardless of the context or the reason therein. We're Everton, FFS, 9 times League Winners. Top 10 is never a massive achievement for us in the eyes of the supporters. Phil was tone deaf, as was Moyes.

You want to be loved? Tell the supporters we're massive and show your love for the club. Or at least don't talk down about it. It's not rocket science.

I suppose my dislike for him has dissipated a little over time, however I then read some of his quotes here, that I'd forgotten he'd made.

Now I'm back to wondering how the hell he became captain of Everton, FFS!

This is what van der Meyde made of it;

"[Neville] was Moyes' pet so I picked on him a lot. I think he told everything that was going on to the boss and that's why he was captain, he was a snitch," he says in his autobiography.

:lol:

Never really "got" us did he?,no real animosity to him myself I mean he's a Manc and you know the score,and we've had a few so called lifelong blues who have dumped on us from a greater height,did a decent enough job for us and brought stability,the quote about the top ten,well I rest my case,Moyes puppet.
