I Hate Phil Neville

I'm not surprised he tried to defend himself.

Post match to Wigan stuffing us 3-0, he tried to play the "Don't forget, we're doing great - we're punching above our weight" card, as he and Moyes so often did. Backfired. Backtracked.

He's turned into a patronising sneaky bell.

The "I drove Fellaini to Manchester United" quote.

The Leighton Baines quotes.

The one's you've quoted.

He's acted like a right bell. Should have his name wiped off as club captain. For sure.

His first club is prob Utd but its a bit embarrassing the ease at which some Evertonians take offence at the things players/former players say. Most of them are not the sharpest tool in the box and what they say should be taken with a pinch of salt rather than expecting to dote on their every word.

Bang average player, we've had hundreds of them, good role model. don't get the hate one bit, find it a slightly cringe worthy someone who was our captain gets so much abuse.

Was your mate drunk and or obnoxious? I mean what actually went on ?
No, it was pre-match - my mate is autistic and he gave him his autograph outside the main entrance on Goodison Road. We tried to engage him in conversation about his brother getting into hot water calling LFC "a pub side" - maybe he has to be guarded in what he says but he was evasive "has he? I haven't heard that?" (or similar) instead of perhaps saying something or laughing (or agreeing with me when I said " well of course we all know Liverpool are a pub side!"). Just thought he was more interested in getting down Goodison Road to meet his mates at the entrance half-way down. To be honest I'm NEA about talking to footballers and was (trying to) engage with him for my mate's sake.

I wouldn't think my mate would be obnoxious as talking to/meeting players is a big deal to him.

Saw Duncan McKenzie as he departed into the ground - now there was a player who has time for the fans.

If that's what you think then fine - I told you what he did and didn't do - he didn't engage in conversation (like I said he was evasive or more interested in getting into the ground). I also said why he might have been like that (in order to avoid saying something embarrassing perhaps) but - either way it was my perception and I haven't made a big deal of it (since you asked me and presumed we might be drunk I elaborated rather than go into chapter and verse with my first comment).

Weren't me who accused you of being drunk mate that was @Donald Twain, Anyway I get what ya saying.

His penalty in the shoot out vs Chelsea was a very good moment, and against Utd in the semi at Wembley. I will remember him for them. Never completely one of us but usually said the right thing apart from the various changers quoted by many posters above. Decent full back for most of his time with us. Not much of a midfielder.

The hatred toward him was always less personal and more about the mediocrity he symbolised, IMO. He bothered me because the entire time he was club captain I got the feeling that he was more loyal to utd than us, he was always a manc and never an evertonian. Maybe I'm just talking rubbish but that's always how it felt to me.

Rubbish!

Lmao
Model pro though, I'll always say that about Neville

Took his fitness seriously and led by example in that regard. Good captain from that stand point. You always knew he was working hard to make the most of what he had. He may not have had absolute love for Everton, but he certainly didn't treat his time here as a paid vacation like some others have done, especially during the Walter days.

Probably played a couple of years too long really. Should have perhaps moved on after the 10/11 season and maybe went down a league to the Championship

Overall, I'm glad he played for us, he just overstayed his welcome a little bit. Not our greatest captain, but by no means our worst. Was paid to do a job and he did it to the best of his ability and never dossed. No hard feelings Phillip, go on your way son
lmao possibly and probably, one of the worst players I have ever seen in a blue shirt, n ffs we've seen some [Poor language removed] !!!!
