I'm not surprised he tried to defend himself.
Post match to Wigan stuffing us 3-0, he tried to play the "Don't forget, we're doing great - we're punching above our weight" card, as he and Moyes so often did. Backfired. Backtracked.
Was your mate drunk and or obnoxious? I mean what actually went on ?Saw him outside the ground last night and thought he was a bit rude and evasive to my mate.
No, it was pre-match - my mate is autistic and he gave him his autograph outside the main entrance on Goodison Road. We tried to engage him in conversation about his brother getting into hot water calling LFC "a pub side" - maybe he has to be guarded in what he says but he was evasive "has he? I haven't heard that?" (or similar) instead of perhaps saying something or laughing (or agreeing with me when I said " well of course we all know Liverpool are a pub side!"). Just thought he was more interested in getting down Goodison Road to meet his mates at the entrance half-way down. To be honest I'm NEA about talking to footballers and was (trying to) engage with him for my mate's sake. Was your mate drunk and or obnoxious? I mean what actually went on ?

I wouldn't think my mate would be obnoxious as talking to/meeting players is a big deal to him.
Saw Duncan McKenzie as he departed into the ground - now there was a player who has time for the fans.
So he stopped and gave your mate an autograph.... its cos he never laughed at your joke isn't it, c'mon
If that's what you think then fine - I told you what he did and didn't do - he didn't engage in conversation (like I said he was evasive or more interested in getting into the ground). I also said why he might have been like that (in order to avoid saying something embarrassing perhaps) but - either way it was my perception and I haven't made a big deal of it (since you asked me and presumed we might be drunk I elaborated rather than go into chapter and verse with my first comment).
Eh? I never accused anyone of being drunk boyo! You been on the ale again?Weren't me who accused you of being drunk mate that was @Donald Twain, Anyway I get what ya saying.
Rubbish! The hatred toward him was always less personal and more about the mediocrity he symbolised, IMO. He bothered me because the entire time he was club captain I got the feeling that he was more loyal to utd than us, he was always a manc and never an evertonian. Maybe I'm just talking rubbish but that's always how it felt to me.
lmao possibly and probably, one of the worst players I have ever seen in a blue shirt, n ffs we've seen some [Poor language removed] !!!!Model pro though, I'll always say that about Neville
Took his fitness seriously and led by example in that regard. Good captain from that stand point. You always knew he was working hard to make the most of what he had. He may not have had absolute love for Everton, but he certainly didn't treat his time here as a paid vacation like some others have done, especially during the Walter days.
Probably played a couple of years too long really. Should have perhaps moved on after the 10/11 season and maybe went down a league to the Championship
Overall, I'm glad he played for us, he just overstayed his welcome a little bit. Not our greatest captain, but by no means our worst. Was paid to do a job and he did it to the best of his ability and never dossed. No hard feelings Phillip, go on your way son
