You're letting your personal dislike for the man cloud the facts

I'm sure in the nearly 136 year history of our football club there have been worse players than Pip Neville

I mean, come on. Making outrageous over exaggerations isn't your usual MO mate. I can only assume that your feverish dislike for Captain Phil has made you delirious with rage and clouded your judgment

Name a worse captain of our club at any time throughout our history, one who has come even close to saying anything like "top 10 is a good result for Everton."

You can't. This isn't exaggeration.

Someone would have to put together a list of all our captains and what they achieved before I could even begin to make such a claim

I never really had any disliking to Phil Neville, i understand he was technically limited (to about 1%) but i dont think he was bad as captain, organising (that finger pointing stuff). Although Van Der Meyde did say Pip was Moysies bit on the side, teachers pet etc etc. Maybe that is what helped get him a game.

Isn't there a former captain on that long list who whilst being captain advised the biggest talent we had at the time, and for a long time, that it was better for his career if he moved clubs (rumoured to have even drove him up the M62 himself), when we were desperately short on any talent or talisman. A player who was young with immense potential and a boyhood blue to boot!

Now surely that's more damaging and disrespectful to our club than some off the cuff remark Phil Neville made in an interview about the state of the club off the pitch.

You can't just base your decision on a single comment

I sincerely doubt you are qualified to state whether Phil Neville was actively better or worse than ALL of our captains that we've had since the start of the club

Have you seen Dickie Downs play as captain? Or Hunter Hart?

How many captains on that list have you actually seen captain Everton?

I'm guessing it's a small percentage

It's impossible to declare Neville the worst captain ever

Worst of your lifetime? Worst of your time following the Blues?

Those I'd accept. But worst ever? That's so inherently unfair

Surely you can see that?
 

@Tubey if you had said "Phil Neville is the worst Everton captain there's ever been since I've started following the Blues" I'd have absolutely no issue with that comment. It's an opinion at the end of the day and you would have at least had seen all the captains during that timescale, so I'd respect your opinion even if I didn't agree

To say he's the worst ever is absolute pish though, as there's simply no way you'd be able to know that. That's why I've taken umbridge with you here

I liked phil as a player until about 2011. He's one of those that just seems to get stick throughout his career no matter how good he is. Remember played a couple of hundred times each for everton and Man United and had about 50 caps. He must have had something about him. As for a bad captain? Naaaahhhh. I actually think jags might be a worse captain, not player, captain as much as I love the guy.

Phil Neville is absolutely jizzguzzler who after 8 years of horrible performances and grossly overinflated contracts issued the club with a writ for unpaid wages

you are right, the Shane Duffy fan club are wrong
