Think we signed Onana thinking he would be a more progressive player than he is. And contribute far more to attacks. As it’s turned out his best position is doing exactly the same as Gana, sitting and breaking up play, with a limited passing range and not much in the attacking third of the pitch.

The balance isn’t right in the midfield and then you have Iwobi playing with them who flatters to deceive and isn’t up to the responsibility of creator.

It’s a mess alright.

Would maybe go 4231 Gana and Onana just sitting in front of the back four and shielding, would be solid. Trouble is it leaves a supporting attacking line of Gray, Iwobi and Gordon/McNeil which is terrible and easily in the three weakest attacks in the league for creativity and goals. At least we’d be more solid than of late.

Aint surrounded by quality like at PSG, reality of the dross around him and the strength of the league has caught up. Needs a Carsley type to watch his back so he can scuttle about and pester.

First half he was a one-man midfield and only one who looked capable of doing anything.

Second half he was absolutely dreadful and that pass is one of the worst things I've witnessed.

The one man midfield thing was absolutely mad. Iwobi as an inside left and Davies as a number 10? I didn't have a clue what Lampard was trying to do.

Usually when you disagree with a manager's tactics you can at least concede you know where they're coming from. Not tonight.

Why are we obsessed with bringing players/managers back?

I said this at the time.

It was typical Everton brining this shameful homophobe back to the club.

He belonged in the past but we got back a shadow of the former player when no one else was interested.

He got lost in positive ideology tonight, a hard fought point vs city and suddenly that solidity and grit goes to the wall. Frank Kamikaze Lampard.

Not learning, never will. Time to leave town and never look back.

We set up in the same midfield shape that we have bizarrely done every game now bar Palace and Man City since the start of October. It doesn't work and it's on Lampard. But the players are also so bad they can't think how to drop into space.
