It would make so little sense to let him go right now for that price.

I will say I think Weigl isn't as great a player as his reputation suggests, i.e. he is very overhyped! He had one very good season for Dortmund, but has struggled since, and there was a reason Dortmund felt the need to pay big money by their standards for Witsel and Delaney and why Weigl is now 4th choice. But he is still only 23, so it isn't like he has reached his highest level, still room to grow.

But still, unless I am mistaken and he only has 1 year left on his contract rather than two (but I am sure it is 2), it makes no sense to sell now at this price.

Look, I’m not in love with stats, but I’m clearly seeing something differently than you. He’s the most important player on our team and we’d stink without him. But that’s not even what the post was about. It was more specific about him losing the ball. The stats seem to validate what I’m seeing. It’s not the other way around. I don’t see a guy giving it away, losing possession, especially in a side that’s poor at it. I look at the stats based on what I’m seeing and they validate what I’m seeing. It would be one thing is statistically it seemed neutral, but it’s pretty dramatic. If they didn’t validate what I’m seeing, I would certainly be questioning my own judgement.

I’m also not saying he’s Kante, Kante is much more dynamic going forward, I’m not saying he’s world class. I’m not saying he’s a creator and even a great passer. However, I am saying it’s not his role. I am also saying some of the criticism of Gana isn’t real or correct. In particular, this idea that he gives the ball away is a complete myth.

You're spot on about the giving the ball away. Criticizing him for not playing passes that move us forward is a fair criticism but as you say shouldn't really be his role. But saying he gives it away too much really isn't true. Yes it happens from time to time and it did against Bournemouth but more often than not he keeps the ball well. If we had players who could move it forward, like Gomes was doing and Schniederlin briefly did, we would be in good shape again in midfield.
 
Gueye now appears a dead-end for PSG but hey, things can change real fast. The front-runner now appears to be Paredes. Yup, not the same profile, but with on ly one midfielder in the roster, we need different profiles anyway.

Problem is that is his role and he can't do it as well as others out there.
