PSG definitely do need a defensive midfielder. Even if it purely is so every other player apart from the CBs can run past him.

Tuchel likes a high intensity midfield and he doesn't really have that.
Rabiot is more a silkier, taller version of Joe Allen, in my mind. Doesn't actually do all that much...
Verratti is class but injury prone and then tends to lose his head. He isn't a natural defensive midfielder, he's a deep-lying playmaker.
Paredes will be pretty much a sitter who can play an anchor role. I do find it strange that they'd also want Gueye as well, though. It probably would be simply to screen the defence and give it to their plethora of attacking players. If Gana simply does that job he's one of the best around. He can cover every blade of grass no issue. Which is why I'm still convinced he can play at the base of a 4-3-3. It doesn't have to be a 'traditional 6' to play that system right.
