in terms of value and performances, could be as great as tim cahill and mikel arteta imo if he keeps it up for the next few years
Just shows there are total steals out there if you look hard enough, Moyes was amazing at finding them, just hope even tho we have money now we still look hard for them

Didn’t make it into Crooks’ team of the week, proving that all you have to do is score to get in his misguided idea of what a team looks like.

Garth Crooks won’t watch all 10 PL games every week so he’s obv going to pick goalscorers or a keeper than keeps a clean sheet over someone like Gana where you have to actually watch the game.

Was much better on Saturday, and I think having Gomes helps him a lot. He just needs to stick to what he's good at.

I think the way people go on about him in this thread is still way over the top though. He's not even close to being our best player. Our best players are the players who have made a difference. Richarlison, Digne, even Sigurdsson, who I have been as critical of as anyone, is now playing like a totally different player and starting to have a real impact on how we play.

Gueye for me is still playing the same as he nearly always has done while he's been here, whether the team has played well, average or terrible. He has consistently done the same things, being a nuisance, covering a lot of ground, making interceptions, and while that can make him an asset, it does not make him our best player.

Personally, I think there were at least 3 people ahead of him for MOTM on saturday, Keane, Gomes and of course, Richarlison. And let's not forget, this was Brighton. He was poor against United. He still gives the ball away far too often for me, his passing is a definite weakness, and he often holds onto the ball too long.

But we as a team are definitely improving, and I think it helps with us having someone with actual football intelligence in the middle next to him, and he was really unlucky with his shot. Would've been a great goal.

I find it completely bizarre that anyone thinks he's better with Gomes next to him. He's exactly the same player. He's not played any better, he's always been this good. The ideas that he can't pass or contribute offensively are also silly, but they'll be out the second we lose.

The whole team plays better with Gomes in it, Gueye especially. He doesn’t have to cover for the absolute rubbish he usually has next to him.
