Not sure how it couldn't. He was dribbled and passed by quite a bit and is he playing defensive mid. I actually think he does okay when pressuring. I don't think he does well sitting back and playing with discipline.

But fair, if he was expected to get the ball up the field, he has to do better than he did last year. I do believe that's a better possibility than him improving defensively. Not sure he has that in him.

That could be the reason his dribbled by numbers are high is because he's the guy who pressured more? I don't know. I can't recall if Gueye was the guy who sat back and covered the back line. I'm no analyst

I don't think that impacted his numbers. He did pressure higher, did at times play farther up the field, but Gana wasn't usually a sitting 6 or anything. Gomes has almost always had fair poor numbers in that regard because he's simply slow. He's just not the best defender.

There's literally no similarities at all between them in styles.

I like Doucoure. I think going forward he has more to offer as a box-to-box player than Gana would.

But signing him to play him as a holding midfielder would be a complete waste.

I'm proper annoyed by this transfer tbh. Accepting it's probably likely, and I get the arguments why. But we really need to stop selling our best players.

Price should be 30m cash now, or an additional million for every day that this goes on until the end of the window. Thinking we can sell arguably our most important player for a pittance just ahead of the season, pff.

I know we will replace him with a player, but it will almost certainly be a downgrade in the short term. None of the players mentioned can so what Gana does.

If there is a like for like replacement for him, why are PSG buying him as a 30 year old?
If we are to sell/replace it will have to be either someone younger and more expensive or an relatively unknown gamble.
Understand the calls to sell but it does open us up defensively.

In all those cases, the aforementioned teams replaced key player with key player. In some cases, they purchased before the departure of said key player.

You're absolutely right though, it does happen and it's something we'll need to become accustomed to. But i'd hope for better than Delph to replace him.

Incredible to see how Fernandinho, Fabinho, Ndombele, Torreira, Ndidi, Matic, Doucoure, Neves and Rice are all outperforming Gueye over the last 3 years.

Definitely shows PSG up for fools, Kante is also way better than Gueye as the below metric shows.

Can't help but agree with those who say Gueye is average at best lol

There is no way on this earth that declan rice is outperforming gueye at anything. All those players are at worse clubs than PSG.
