A good bit of business. Did a great job. Glad we had another 6 months out of him because I think fans were happy for him to leave in January which coincided with a slight dip in form. Proven to be a model professional since January and can leave with the appropriate respect from fans.

That's because it was agreed back in Jan he would leave in the summer. Hazard did the same thing, he was about to hand in a transfer request last year and then our of nowhere all smiles and got his head down after it was agreed he could move 1 year later

Same with gueye, there was no fight from Silva this time which was why the fee was agreed within days of the Acon finishing.

Good money for his age but we are weakening the squad. We need strength in depth with decent players on the bench to bring on. Maybe we will spend the money on a decent striker.

Still hoping it falls through... I think it will be a huge loss to the team. The usual suspects on podcasts etc. criticising him by comparison with some mythical centre mid that would never come to us even if he did exist. I've watched a lot of Delph over the years and I think he's a level below Gana. Going by the pre-season so far, I don't see any plan or style that puts Delph in a different role that suits him more than it would Gana. There's always the hope of some top replacement coming in, but it's getting to the point at which we need too many starters.

He was definitely in the upper echelon of midfielders in the league. Footy is a team game, and when we struggled he struggled. People wanted to make him the scapegoat, but the reality is we needed more creativity in the side, and that isn’t his job whatsoever. Godspeed you happy lovely man xoxo
