He is probably one of the quickest central mids we have ever had. He is the player that will pester the opposition; even if he doesn't win the ball he will make it difficult for you. He is fairly composed on the ball which is icing on the cake; he is a surefire upgrade over McCarthy who hasn't found consistent form since his arrival.

Early days, but good signs. Wins it, intercepts its and gives to others quickly. Moves the game forward with minimum of fuss. A far cry from McCarthy of last two seasons winning it then pirouetting 3 times before knocking it back to Jags. McCarthy may have a fight on his hands for a central midfield spot. He's clearly behind Barry and Gueye.

Very much this. Sucks to be one of the gits that called him a bad passer, he does an efficient crab thing and allows space for Barry to do the Pirlo-esque spraying of the ball.
