Gana covers a lot of ground because Barry can't, that's his job and every team needs 1-2 runners. Distance covered is actually one of those stats that English footie cares about way too much. That being said the rest of the world has a chuckle about it but at least England sides get a "good puppy" pat on the head as they walk off with a 3-1 loss. There is no point for all 10 outfield guys to be spending all their energy chasing hopeless causes. You need guys like Rom to have the energy to get a step on a defender late in the match, not chasing everything under the sun. Last year Raneri would often scream at Vardy to stop it, pick your moments and play smarter.

So if the RS wants to run themselves into the ground, fine let them. Yea when it works its nice but they've already had matches where they have looked spent and out of sorts. The season is only 9 months long and there is no break like there is in Germany.

it's not gana's pace that gets him everywhere - it's his intelligence and acceleration
there was one they highlighted on motd where he pulled off a player to encourage a pass then burst in to nick the ball and get us running

and that's his game, he's almost playing chess onfield - if anyone plays chess they know it's all about overloading key areas as they develop and that's what makes gana so good - whenever an extra man is needed he is there

on the break and barks has run into a blind alley? gana is there to hold it up and play a one two

opposition mounting an attack in numbers? he's hanging off their players looking for an opening where our defense nullifies their attackers, then uses his pace to nip in and add an extra man

I think he's being eyed up to slot into barry's position, because his game is very very similar - he finds the loose threads in opponent's teams and teases them until they unravel

Turned to the fella stood next to me at the game on more than one occasion and we just laughed and shook our heads in disbelief at the way he plays. Not many players make you do that.

This was genuinely happening in the Park End. It got to the point where people weren't even applauding anymore - they were just laughing.

He's that ridiculous. You could see every time they got the ball, they were thinking "how do I get past that Gana lad?"

Same round me as well. You know a lad is half decent when everyone is just laughing at what he is pulling off.

James who? ;)

I love his energy, he's just constantly moving. Constantly! He always seems to be an option whether it's moving the ball out of defence or around the opposition box, he's bloody everywhere.

Seems out of the ordinary for someone of his stature too but he isn't muscled off the ball easily. Rapidly becoming an indispensable part of our team.

What a signing for £7.1m.

Basically we just needed a midfielder to be Barry's legs, but this lad has gone an added all that to the partnership! Single best signing of the summer of any premier league team.

I mean the lad isn't bad but come on, we're massively overrating him. He's just having a purple patch - loads get them, Lennon and Besic last season for example. I guarantee you he'll tail off eventually.

I've also seen him get easily beaten in the air and muscled off the ball a bit too easily on several occasions.

LOL

No mate, you havent.

The lad has made an extraordinarily good start his Everton career, but some Blues are talking as if he were a clone of a young Frank Rijkaard. Unfortunately, after his first poor performance, he will go from being a Rijkaard to a Rodwell!

The same happened with Barkley. When he first burst onto the scene, he was feted by blues as the new Gazza. Now he gets dog's abuse almost every home match.

He's had a great start to the season and looks an absolute steal... But we are only five games in so far so I think it's fair enough to not get too carried away at this point and stay away from hyping him up ridiculous amounts.
